Banishree Scholarship for Children With Special Needs :
Under the ‘Banishree’ scheme, the state govt. grants scholarships to the students, at prescribed rates through the DSWOs. Under this Scheme, the State Govt. provides scholarships to children with special needs studying in schools from primary to University level including those pursuing technical and vocational education. Besides the above, the in-plant trainees of the Vocational Rehabilitation Centre (VRC), Bhubaneswar are also provided with scholarship.
The rates of scholarship are as follows :

** Primary School (Class I to V) Rs.200/- p.m.
** Middle & High School (Class Vito VII Et VIII to X) Rs.250/- p.m.
** College (+2 and +3 level) Rs.300/- p.m.
** College (PG level) Rs.350/- p.m.
** Technical a Vocational Training Rs.350/- p.m.
** Technical & Vocational Courses outside the state Rs.350/- p.m.
About Us :
The Women and Child Development Department was created as a separate Department during 1994-95. Since inception, it has been working for the overall development of children and women through a host of specially designed schemes and programmes. It also deals with schemes for the Senior Citizens and Persons with Disability. The year witnessed launch of some new schemes like MAMATA, Bhimabhoi Samarthya Abhiyan and systemic changes like strengthening of the Decentralized Feeding Programme of ICDS. The focus of activities continues to be on the empowerment and entitlements of children, women, and persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
