What is ONGC Merit Scholarship?

ONGC Merit Scholarship 2024-25 is sponsored by ONGC Foundation. Applicants must be citizens of India and below 30 years of age. The scholarship is open to First Year students of B.Tech and MBA belonging to SC, ST, OBC and EWS categories. The scholarship is Rs.48,000/- for selected applicants per annum. Last Date of Scholarship is 10th October 2024.

Eligibility Criteria of ONGC Merit Scholarship

** Students admitted in academic year 2024-25
** Minimum 60% in12th for UG Students and 60% in Graduation for PG Students
** Age limit – 30 years as on 1st August 2024
** The Scholarship is admissible for full-time regular courses only
** Gross Annualincome of less than INR 4.5 lakhs for SC/ST & 2 lakhs for OBC, GEN-EWS
** Last Date of Application – 10th October 2024

Documents Required for ONGC Merit Scholarship

Documents required to be submitted by the applicants.
** Copy of Birth Certificate/Class 10 Mark sheet as proof of age.
** Copy of Class 12-mark sheet in case of Engineering/MBBS students.
** Copy of consolidated Graduation mark sheet in case of MBA/Master’s in Geology/Geophysics students.
** Certified copy of annual income certificate of the family in Hindi/English language.(Vernacular may be provide in extreme case).
** Bank details of the applicant in the ECS form attested by the bank as prescribed.
** Copy of PAN card or the tentative date for submission of PAN card copy (in case it is not available.
** Copy of College/Institution Id
** Copy of Colleges/Institution Admission Receipt
** Copy of undertaking.

Note:
Complete application with all the supporting documents as mentioned in the application form duly certified and attested by their Head/Principal/ Dean of the Institute/ College/University need to be uploaded and same required to be shared in hard copies, should reach the designated office of ONGC as per the details given in application Format.

** Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria as mentioned above may submit their application online as per the prescribed “Application format”.
** For receiving scholarship benefits, an individual shall furnish proof of possession of required documents of enrolled college/ University.

Total 2000 ONGC Scholarships are available for meritorious students.

Each selected student will receive a scholarship of INR 48,000 on an annual basis to enable them to complete their education.

How does the student get the scholarship amount?
Student get the scholarship amount through the given bank account.

Is bank account necessary for getting scholarship amount?
Yes, in order to get the direct benefit, students would need to provide authentic details of their bank account while applying for the scholarship as per the detailed format mentioned. It is to be noted that the account is not minor/current account or joint account.

How many scholarships can a single student avail?
Students cannot avail more than one ONGC Merit Scholarship at the same time. Students can, however, renew the scholarship again after the tenure of one scholarship ends. They can also apply for a different scholarship after the scholarship duration for one scholarship has ended.

Will scholarship help students in getting a job in future?
No, there is no direct relation between jobs and scholarships. ONGC Merit scholarship offer students a chance to obtain the best possible education, irrespective of their financial or social status.

Which organisation is providing ONGC Merit Scholarship?
ONGC Foundation is providing ONGC Merit Scholarship. Students are selected for scholarship benefits on the basis of either of the fulfilling criteria laid by the ONGC Foundation.

Are only first year undergraduate/Post-Graduate students eligible to apply?
Yes, only those students who have passed Class XII (CBSE/ICSE board) or equivalent Examination of State Boards and students who have completed their graduation for the current year are eligible to apply for.

Are students enrolled in integrated courses of eligible institutions eligible to apply?
No, students pursuing integrated courses are not eligible for ONGC Merit Scholarship.

Will the scholarship transferred in case the awardee changes the institution or course during the tenure of scholarship?
No. There is no provision for transfer of scholarship

Will the scholarship be renewed if the awardee fails in the first or subsequent years of study?
No. The scholarship will not be renewed if the awardee fails to qualify in the annual or semester examination for OBC ad GEN. Whereas for SC/ST category if the student fails in an annual or semester examination he will not be eligible for that particular year of scholarship.
