What is PM Yasasvi Central Sector Scheme Scholarship?

PM Yasasvi Central Sector Scheme Of Top Class Education In College For OBC, EBC And DNT Students Scholarship 2024 is sponsored by Department Of Social Justice & Empowerment. The Scheme will cover OBC/EBC/DNT students for pursuing studies beyond class XIIth. Students having total annual family income from all sources up to Rs. 2.50 lakh. The students will submit their application on National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The institutes will verify the applications on NSP for submission to the Ministry. Last Date of Scholarship is 31st October 2024.

Objective of PM Yasasvi Central Sector Scheme

** The objective of the scheme is to recognize and promote quality education amongst Students belonging to OBC, EBC and DNT categories by providing full financial support. The Scheme will cover OBC/EBC/DNT students for pursuing studies beyond class XIIth
** The Scheme will operate in all the institutions notified by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for every financial year 2021-22 onwards.
** The scholarship, once awarded, will continue till the completion of the course, subject to satisfactory performance of the student. The students are required to apply for scholarship every year even in case of renewal also.

Eligibility of PM Yasasvi Central Sector Scheme

(i) Those OBC/EBC/DNT students having total annual family income from all sources up to Rs.2.50 lakh and having secured admission in a full-time prescribed course in any of the notified institutions according to the general selection criteria prescribed by the concerned institution, will be eligible for scholarship under the Scheme to the extent of the number of scholarships (slots) allocated to the institution for the course.

(ii) In case the number of eligible students admitted exceeds the number of slots allotted to the institution, the scholarship will be restricted to the top students in the inter-se merit list based on the admission criteria for the course as mentioned in Annexure-II.

** However, if there is more than one student with equal marks for the last available slot in an institution, preference should be given to the student with the lower family income.
** The remaining students from OBC/EBC/DNT category admitted in the institution shall be eligible for the Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS) administered by this Ministry through State Governments/UT Administrations, provided such students are otherwise eligible under the said scheme.

(iii) In case the institution finds that the number of eligible candidates in the 1st year are less than the number of slots allotted to it, the balance slots may be offered to eligible students studying in 2nd, 3rd and 4th year, etc. on the basis of inter-se merit of previous year’s result giving priority to those with higher number of years left to complete their respective course i.e. 2nd year students are to get priority over the 3rd year students and soon.

(iv) Thirty percent (30%) of slots allotted to the Institution shall be reserved for eligible girl students as per their inter-se merit. In the absence of sufficient number of girl students, the slots may be transferred to eligible boy students as per their inter-se-merit.
(v) However, the 30% slots as mentioned above will not include those girl students who are selected on the basis of their performance in the overall merit list of OBC/EBC/DNT students, as applicable, of the Institution.
(vi) The benefit of the Scheme will not be provided to more than 2 siblings in a family. The students will submit an affidavit in the Institution to certify that he/she is not the third sibling of the family who is availing benefit under the scheme.
(vii) The scholarship will be terminated if the student fails to get promoted to the next semester/class.
(viii) As the fund is majorly earmarked for OBC, preference would be given to the OBC students while considering under the scheme.

How to Apply for PM Yasasvi Central Sector Scheme?

** Student/ Parent/ Legal guardian must read the instructions carefully before registration.
** Student/ Parent/ Legal guardian is advised to fill all the required details carefully and check properly before submission as correction/editing will not be allowed after submission.
** Any wrong/ false information may lead to rejection.
** Enter correct OTR number as provided during registration. The unique identifier helps to verify identity and track application progress.
** Keep your password confidential and avoid sharing it with anyone to protect your account security.
** In case you forget your password, utilize the Forgot Password option to reset it.
** Student/ Parent/ Legal guardian is also advised to refer to National Scholarship Portal for regular updates.

One Time Registration (OTR) Guidelines for Scholarships Hosted on NSP :
** Mandatory Requirement: One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory for applying for various scholarship schemes on National Scholarship Portal/other portals.
** Essential Requirement for OTR: Active mobile number is mandatory for OTR.
** No payment of fee is required for OTR.

Steps for Registration:
i. Once allotted an OTR, student can apply for scholarship later when the portal is open for application submission.
ii Upon successful registration, a reference number will be sent on the registered mobile number.
iii Download and install NSP OTR app and Aadhaar Face RD services on android based devices.
iv. Perform the Face-Authentication using the generated reference number for OTR sent on your mobile no.
v. After successful Face-Authentication OTR will be generated.

** Please apply for Scholarship using OTR. Merely generation of OTR does not tantamount to application for scholarship.
** Aadhaar Requirement: Aadhaar is required for OTR. If Aadhaar is not assigned, registration can be done using Enrollment ID (EID) for Aadhaar. If a minor student has not been assigned Aadhaar yet, registration can be done using Aadhaar of her parent or legal guardian.
** It is advised to update other relevant demographic records (name, dob, gender) to match with Aadhaar/EID.
** Parent/legal guardian of minor applying with their Aadhaar must ensure that while making an application for Aadhaar enrolment of minor shall use the same demographic details (of minor) as used in the OTR.
** One OTR ID is allowed per student. However, parent/legal guardian can generate upto a maximum of two OTRs (for two minor children)
** In case more than one OTR is found for a student, she would be liable for debarment from scholarships.
