What is Goa University Research Studentship?

Research Studentship/ Scholarship (2024-25) is sponsored by Goa University. Research Scholars who are registered for the Ph.D. degree Programme in the University Schools and those who are not recipients of any other scholarship/studentships etc. Applications in the prescribed form, available in the respective discipline/programme of the School and also on the Goa University website, should be submitted along with certified copies of required documents, duly recommended, and forwarded by their Research Guide to the Directorate Office. Last Date of Scholarship is 15th July 2024.

Eligibility of Research Studentship

1. Full time Research Scholars should have at least a second class at the graduation level and obtained Master’s degree by securing a minimum of 55% or equivalent grade, and or by research from Goa University, or from any other University recognized by Goa University, and whose Ph.D. registration has been confirmed.

2. Only those Research Scholars whose Ph.D. registration is confirmed shall be eligible to apply for the Studentship.
3. Full time Research Scholars holding any other scholarship are not eligible to apply.

Conditions of Research Studentship

** Candidates should not have completed more than eight terms on the date of application.
** In case the six monthly reports are not satisfactory, the Research Studentship is likely to be terminated.
** Declaration from the candidates that they are not employed should be submitted after the issue of the sanction order.
** Applications will be screened by the Research Studentship Committee and its decision will be final.
** Research Scholars shall have to sign the attendance register available in the office of the respective discipline/programme, twice a day, in the morning and in the evening.

** Ordinarily the fellowship shall be for a period of two years from the date of its award. However, the fellowship may be continued for the 3rd year on recommendation of the Committee to the Vice-Chancellor for approval subject to the following conditions:
i. There is significant progress made by the Scholars in research work.
ii. The applicant has published research paper/s involving her/his work in a journal included in the UGC CARE list.

** Research Scholars who have been awarded the scholarship are required to apply for continuation of the fellowship during the second year which will be on basis of the recommendation of their Research Guide based on the research work carried by applicant.
** Research Scholars are required to return the fellowship amount paid to them by the University, in case their Ph.D. registration is terminated, or they are unable to complete the programme. Research Scholar shall be required to submit an undertaking to this effect.
** Scholars selected for the Goa University Research Studentship will be entitled to 30 days leave in an academic year. Leave beyond 30 days will be without a scholarship.
