What is Education Scholarship Scheme for Army Personnel?
An Education Scholarship Scheme to promote education was introduced in 1978 and covers Serving Army Personnel wards below 25 years of age studying in recognized school/institutions across the country vide AO 16/2016/AG (under revision). ESSA scholarship, a motivating factor for wards of Serving Army Personnel is increasingly being disbursed every year at all the three segments ie School, Graduation and Post Graduation level. Last date for submission of application is 31 December 2023.

Eligibility of Education Scholarship Scheme for Army Personnel
** Wards of all serving Army personnel and MNS Officers. Applicant / ward must not have attained 25 years of age at the time of completion of class/course from IX to PG level of education.
** Wards of Retired Army personnel, Territorial Army personnel (TA) and deceased Army personnel are not eligible.
Award of Education Scholarship Scheme for Army Personnel
** This scholarship is one time scholarship awarded as per cut off percentage of marks/grade under the Education Scholarship Scheme for Army Personnel (ESSA) on completion of class IX to PG level of education.
** The cut off percentages of marks/grade for award of scholarships to various classes and categories have been revised. Based on these cut offs, applications will be received and a merit list will be drawn for award of scholarship based on allotment of funds. However, merit certificate will be awarded to all the received applications.
** Policy on ESSA is also available on our website www.awesindia.com. The amount of scholarship varies from Rs 1500/- to Rs 10000/- per year, depending upon the level of education.
The scholarship, based on the level of education for all categories are as under :
Class/Course Rate of Scholarship (Rs)
1. Class IX and XI Rs 1500/- per annum.
2. Class X and XII Rs 3000/- per annum.
3. Graduation Rs 5000/- per annum
4. Post Graduation Rs 10000/- per annum.

General Instructions of Education Scholarship Scheme for Army Personnel
Particulars mentioned in the online applications including Name of the Candidate / School, Category, Date of Birth, percentage of Marks etc must tally with the supported documents uploaded. No change/modifications will be allowed after submission of the online application form. Candidates are hence advised to fill online application form with utmost care.
** All subjects taken by the students in the class will be considered for percentage of marks. Scholarship will not be awarded on marks obtained in best four/five subjects.
** Photocopy of the marksheet at schools and both semesters of the year passed at colleges to be uploaded by the applicant.
** Supplementary results / Six month results will not be considered.
**Valid personal email-id and mobile numbers, be kept active till disbursement of Scholarship i.e 31 Mar 2024.
** Name of Banker, Account holder, A/c No and IFSC Code filled in the form should be in favour of applicant or parents of a applicant only. It should tally with the uploaded cancelled cheque, failing which application will be rejected.
** Only one application should be submitted by the candidate. In case of multiple applications by same applicant, all such applications will be rejected.
Uploading of Documents
Ensure that only following documents (legible scanned copy) be uploaded by the applicant in support of application: –
(a) Certificate from COs / OsC unit.
(b) Appx ‘B’ duly signed by the Principal/HOD.
(c) Marksheet of applicable year.
(c) Photographs of student.
(d) Signature of student.
(e) Cancelled Cheque (For Parent / Student only).
