What is PRS LAMP Fellowship?
The Legislative Assistants to Members of Parliament (LAMP) Fellowship is a unique and an exciting opportunity for young Indians to learn law-making and public policy. LAMP Fellows are mentored by a Member of Parliament (MP) and work full-time with the assigned MP during a given year, starting from the Monsoon session of Parliament till the end of the Budget session. The primary role of a LAMP Fellow is to provide extensive research support to her/his MP for their parliamentary work. Last Date of Fellowship is 23rd December 2023.

Eligibility of LAMP Fellowship
PRS seeks to engage with highly-motivated, bright young people for the LAMP Fellowship.
** LAMP Fellowship is open to candidates who are 25 years of age or below
** Candidate must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in any academic discipline.
** Only Indian citizens are eligible for the LAMP Fellowship.

The application must be submitted no later than 11:45 PM IST on Saturday, December 23, 2023. Applicants are encouraged to apply early to avoid last minute technical issues.
Before applying, please make sure that you meet the Fellowship’s eligibility requirements:
1) You must have a Bachelor’s degree (in any discipline)
2) You must be 25 years or younger (born on or after June 1st, 1998)
3) You must be an Indian citizen
Instructions for filling up the application form:
Partial responses cannot be saved. Please make sure to fill up the entire application in one go.
Things you need to have ready before filling up the form:
1) Academic scores/grades (Undergraduate and upwards)
2) Details of work experience/internships/ volunteer work
3) A 500-word essay justifying your candidature for the LAMP Fellowship
4) A 500-word essay analysing any issue and the related policy implications
The essays should be written in English and in your own words. Any material used in your essays from other sources must be properly cited. Application of candidates who have plagiarized their essays will be summarily rejected.

Section 3: Academic Qualification: Post Graduate Degree (if applicable)
Section 4: Academic Qualification: Other Degree / Course (if applicable)
Section 5: Work Experience (other than internships) (if applicable)
Section 6: Internship Experience (if applicable)
Section 7: Languages known
Section 8: Two essays (500 words each)
Candidates shortlisted in the first round will be required to take a mandatory online evaluation test on 7 January, 2024 (Sunday).
FAQ on LAMP Fellowship
I am looking for an internship. Is the LAMP Fellowship suitable for me?
The LAMP Fellowship is not an internship. In their work with MPs, LAMP Fellows work as full-time professionals with MPs for the entire duration of the Fellowship. From time to time, short-term internship opportunities with PRS are available. Such opportunities are announced on the Careers page of the PRS website.
I am graduating in the summer. Am I eligible to be a LAMP Fellow?
Candidates are required to have at least a Bachelor’s degree to be eligible for the LAMP Fellowship. This means that candidates must have finished their Bachelor’s degree examinations before the Fellowship begins. No leave of absence will be granted to complete any examinations once the Fellowship has begun.
As a LAMP Fellow can I pursue any other professional or academic engagement?
LAMP Fellows are expected to commit to a full-time engagement with the Fellowship. The Fellows cannot pursue any additional academic or professional assignments during their engagement as a LAMP Fellow.
What is the exact duration of the fellowship?
The Fellowship starts from the middle of June with a rigorous 1-month long training. The Fellows will be assigned to their respective Member of Parliament during the Monsoon session of Parliament and will continue to work with the MP till the end of the Budget session the following year.
What are the criteria for selection of LAMP Fellows?
Candidates from all academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in any academic discipline and should be 25 years of age or below (date of birth on or after June 1, 1998). Previous LAMP Fellows come from diverse academic backgrounds with Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in Engineering, Law, Economics, Pure Sciences, Literature, Journalism, Political Science, Commerce, architecture etc.
I am not an Indian citizen, but I hold a PIO/OCI card. Am I eligible for the LAMP Fellowship?
The Fellowship is open to Indian citizens only. “Indian citizen” implies someone holding an Indian passport or eligible to hold one. Individuals holding PIO/OCI cards are not eligible for the LAMP Fellowship.
Is work experience desirable to be a LAMP Fellow?
Work experience is not an essential criteria to become a LAMP Fellow. However, due to the nature of work a LAMP Fellow undertakes, previous work experience and exposure to a professional work environment might equip LAMP Fellows better to work more effectively with an MP.
Are candidates with Master’s degrees preferred?
The only essential criteria is that candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any academic discipline. Candidates with Master’s degrees are welcome to apply, but will not have an advantage over other candidates during the selection process.
