What is MeitY Higher Education Scholarship Test?
HEST isIndia’s largest Higher Education Scholarship Test where students from top colleges compete to win scholarships to fund their study abroad. HEST is powered by WeMakeScholars, an organization funded & supported by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India under the ‘Digital India’ campaign. The total scholarship fund allocated for this HEST season is 2 Crore, with each scholarship of upto 3 lacs. The exact value of each scholarship depends on the quality and quantity of scholarship applications received in that particular season.

Eligibility Criteria on Higher Education Scholarship Test
1 Applicant must be an Indian citizen.
2 Applicant must be planning to study abroad within the next 12 months (in 2024).
3 Applicant NEED NOT produce the foreign university admission confirmation at the moment. It can be submitted later while receiving the scholarship cash award.
4 Applicant must have a minimum score of 55% in 10th & 12th
5 Students going abroad for Bachelors/ Masters/ MBA/ Diploma programs are eligible to apply. MBBS/ MD/ PhD programs are ineligible for this scholarship.
6 Those who will be self-funding their total expenses are NOT eligible for this scholarship program as we believe they are financially stable to fund their studies. Our motto is to support the needy and financially weak students.
7 HEST intends supporting those applicants who will be funding their total expenses (inclusive of tuition fee, living and travel expenses) using an education loan.
NOTE:
During our last season of HEST 2023, we found that many students submitted fake loan sanction letters, which were either taken just for the visa purpose or to process their HEST scholarship application ahead.
Hence, this year (HEST 2024), we have made this condition mandatory that ONLY students processing their education loan via WeMakeScholars are eligible for this scholarship. Also, since only about 2-5% students get good scholarships, it’s important to have a strong backup funding source as well to make your study abroad dream come true.

Yes, you are eligible to apply again if you meet the scholarship eligibility criteria.
What is the Test Syllabus?
The test consists of 2 Parts:
Part 1: Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension
Part 2: Quantitative Aptitude & Logical Reasoning
There are no subject specific questions. Hence, students from across various fields can attempt the test.
What Happens if i get Shortlisted?
If you are shortlisted, you will receive an official email from the scholarship team. All shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee. If you get selected in the final interview, you will then be eligible to secure the scholarship.
I still have 1 or more years to graduate. Can I still apply?
Please note that HEST 2024 is ONLY for students who are planning to study abroad within the next 12 months (in 2024). This is to ensure that the funding requirements of the current students are met first. However, we would love to have you take the HEST 2025, next year. All the best!
I am already abroad, can I still appear for HEST 2024?
If you are already abroad, you are eligible to appear for the HEST 2024, ONLY if you have not taken any scholarship/ education loan previously. But please note that you can only register for the test from any Indian contact number. You can also use your parent’s/ sibling’s number.
What is the HEST 2024 Campus Delegate Internship Program?
Every year WeMakeScholars conducts the Campus Delegate Internship Program to better organize HEST and spread study abroad funding awareness across various colleges in India.
Students who are still pursuing their studies (in India) can promote HEST 2024 at their respective college campus. This is a 6 week Internship with approximately 1 – 2 hours of work each week. Upon successful completion of this Internship, you will be awarded a certificate of completion with a mention of the ‘Digital India Campaign’ by the IT Ministry, which would be quite valuable on your CV. And top achievers in the internship can get cash awards too.
