Help A Child Scholarship
Help A Child offers Scholarships to meritorious and deserving students. Online applications will be invited from eligible students every year during May / June. You will be shortlisted, if you are eligible based on personal interviews, home visits etc.

Objectives
** To find the means to give financial support to the meritorious and deserving students who otherwise would be unable to pursue their scholastic goals
** Encourage girl students, in particular, to pursue higher education
** Provide all materials and assistance required for educational advancement
** To provide counselling, tutoring, mentoring, support and access to career opportunities upon completion of studies
** Effecting change on both village and national level by demonstrating the positive effects of higher education
** Higher Secondary Education lays the foundation for career-based learning which empowers an individual to be independent
** Our aim is to reach out to those who need our help the most, to ensure that no one has to give up their education due to the lack of funds
** We believe that education is the best way to end the cycle of poverty, ensuring a better future
** Help A Child aims to provide accessibility to those students who want to break out of their current situation, dream bigger and achieve greater heights
Selection Process
Help A Child currently works in Northern Karnataka and Maharashtra in the districts of Bagalkot, Belgaum, Ahmednagar and Mumbai.
It sponsors students from underprivileged backgrounds to complete their higher second and university education. The minimum percentage criteria for girls is 70% while for boys it’s 75%. The sponsorship covers the maximum portion of the student’s college fee. Students from any course above the 10th grade are eligible to apply.
Once the student has been paired with a donor, the amount of their course fees is disbursed in various stages throughout the year. Cheques are given several times a year depending upon the course’s requirements and receipts are jointly signed by the student and college principal. Students sponsored under the scheme are required to send progress reports every three months in order to receive their next cheque instalment.
Sponsors are encouraged to act as mentors for their students. They can send and receive letters to and from their students. They also receive academic updates twice a year.
