1. The Scheme :
1.1 The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), founded in 1953, is today a leading professional society devoted to the advancement of science & Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication, Computers and Information Technology. It serves more than 62,000 members both individuals, industry and organizations through its 57 Centres/ Sub-Centres spread all over India including one in Kathmandu, Nepal.
1.2 IETE has voluntarily adopted socially relevant and progressive programmes especially aimed at the weaker and underprivileged sections of the society. IETE is rendering a yeoman’s service in spreading the technical education to every nook and corner of the country. It is endeavoring to empower the students from the weaker sections of the society from all over India including the inaccessible, remote and rural areas by imparting quality technical education at very affordable cost. Furthering our social responsibilities & obligations to the society, the IETE has launched from financial year 2010-11 a means-cum-merit scholarship scheme for its undergraduate and diploma students.
1.3 Under the scheme, 100 annual scholarships to the meritorious and economically weaker students of AMIETE and DipIETE are awarded. Out of these 50 scholarships are for AMIETE students and 50 for DipIETE. The scholarships are open to all the eligible IETE students of AMIETE and DipIETE from all over India meeting the laid down eligibility criteria. The amount of scholarship is Rs.5, 000/- per student in a year. Every year in April fresh applications are required from the eligible students for the scholarship for that year meeting the eligibility criteria.
2. Eligibility Criteria :
2.1 The eligibility criteria for applying for scholarship are as given below:
2.2 Means Criterion:
(a) The total family income per year should be less than Rs.2 lacs. The total family income includes the income of both the parents and self. Family income certificate from District Magistrate/ Tehsildar as per format at Appendix ‘B’ must be attached with the application without which the application will not be considered.
(b) If the applicant falls in Below Poverty Line (BPL) category, the photocopy of the BPL certificate and Ration card attested by Gazetted Officer must be attached with application without which the application will not be considered.
(c) In case original family income or BPL certificate is in local language, attested copy of English/Hindi version must be furnished along with original income certificate or photocopy of BPL certificate without which application will not be processed.
2.3 Merit Criterian:
(a) The applicant should meet the merit criteria mentioned in para 3 below in respect of one of the categories applied for. Application must be submitted only for one category of the scholarship.
(b) A student already in receipt of scholarship in one category in the previous year is eligible to apply only for the next or subsequent category of the scholarship in the next or subsequent year. For example a recipient of scholarship under A1 category can apply for scholarship under A2 or A3 category in the next or subsequent years.
3. Category of Scholarship :
3.1 The scholarships are granted in one of the following categories:
(a) AMIETE Students:

** A1 25 scholarships are awarded to the students who have appeared for all theory papers of Sec A Part I and have scored a Grade PointAverage (GPA) of 6.0 or above in the best of 3 papers passed.
** A2 15 scholarships are awarded to the students who have appeared for all theory papers of Sec A Part II and have scored a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 6.0 or above in the best of 3 papers passed.
** A3 10 scholarships are awarded to the students who have appeared for all theory papers of Sec B Part I and have scored a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 6.0 or above in the best of 3 papers passed
(b) DipIETE Students:

** D1 25 scholarships are awarded to the students who have appeared for all theory papers of Sec A Part I and have scored a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 6.0 or above in the best of 3 papers passed.
** D2 15 scholarships are awarded to the students who have appeared for all theory papers of Sec A Part II and have scored a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 6.0 or above in the best of 3 papers passed.
** D3 10 scholarships are awarded to the students who have appeared for all theory papers of Sec B Part I and have scored a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 6.0 or above in the best of 3 papers passed
3.2 The best three papers shall also include the papers cleared after improvement. Self attested photocopies of the Marks Sheets of the subjects of the category applied for must be enclosed with the application form.
4. Application Form :
4.1 Application form as per format attached at Appendix-‘A, duly signed and filled for applied category along with all the relevant certificates should be sent to reach IETE HQ by 30 Apr of every year to the following address:

4.2 Applications will be received only in April of the year. The cover containing the application form should be boldly marked on top as “ Application for IETE Scholarship”.
4.3 Dates to remember:
(a) Last Date for Receipt of Application: 30 April at IETE HQ
(b) Date of announcement of Award of Scholarship: 30 June
4.4 Incomplete applications and applications received after the last date will not be considered.

5. Procedure for processing of Applications :
5.1 IETE HQ will prepare category wise the lists of accepted applications received and process these for consideration of the Standing Scholarship Awards Committee of IETE. After considering the means eligibility criteria as per para 2.1 above, the selection of the scholarship awardees will be on merit (para 2.2 above) basis and will be finalized by end of June year.
5.2 The scholarship awardees will be intimated individually as well as through IETE website in July and their scholarship cheques will be disbursed by end of August every year. Cheque will be issued only in the name as given in application form which should be as registered with IETE.
