Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar National Research Fellowships (BANRF) 2016
Combining an uncompromising dedication to the needs of the oppressed with a fierce rationalism, Babasaheb gave an unyielding force of progressive change to the Indian society. He was not only a leader who championed the values of social equality, human rights and dignity; but also a scholar of great repute who contributed to the ideas of economic reform, national defence and legal rights for women- a facet of his work less acknowledged.

His towering work in politics and academics was based on his unflinching reliance on scientific temperament and rational education. Hisunparalleled erudition is a constant source of motivation for research and studies in all academic fields. As a resolve to carry forward his message of social change through education, BARTI has initiated the very first research fellowship in his name.

In 1913, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar undertook a historic journey to Columbia University, New York for Higher Studies. In grateful commemoration of this, BARTI launched Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar National Research Fellowship (BANRF). For the year 2016, BARTI invites applications from Scheduled Caste candidates of Maharashtra State for the Award of M.Phil. / Ph.D.

Fellowships:
The fellowships are open to Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates belonging to Maharashtra, who wish topursue regular and fulltime M. Phil and Ph.D degrees, in any subject, from Indian Universities / Institutions / Colleges approved under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act and in Non-Universities / Institutions.

Number Of Fellowships:
Year 2016 marks 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. In commemoration of this, One Hundred and Twenty Five (125) M.Phil. / Ph.D. fellowships will be awarded this year.

Reservations:
50% of fellowships are reserved for SC women candidates.
3% of fellowships are reserved for SC persons with disability

Eligibility:
SC Candidates having PG degree as on the date of the application.

Important, Please Note:
As stated in the revised guidelines of the fellowships, if the candidate is pursuing an integrated M.Phil./ Ph. D. Programme(2+3 years), then candidate has to apply for the fellowship through a separate application for M.Phil. as well as Ph.D.

Selection for M.Phil. does not imply selection for Ph.D. fellowship automatically even in case of students pursuing an integrated programme. In case of any difference in interpretation, the clarification provided by BARTI will be final and binding.

How To Apply:
Eligible and interested candidates may send their applications in the prescribed format downloadable from website barti.maharashtra.gov.in (click on NOTICE BOARD >BANRF – 2016).

The candidate should enclose attested copies of all necessary documents along with the duly filled application and Research Proposal including concept note containing research details, etc. in about 2000 words and send by Registered Post
