Rishi Shukla Memorial Scholarship:
Rishi Shukla Memorial Scholarship (RSM Scholarship), instituted in MMMEC’s (now MMMUT) Golden Jubilee Year in 2012, is the first scholarship to be awarded by MMM Alumni Scholarship Fund (MMMAS Fund; details below).

This Annual scholarship is established in memory of Rishi Shukla, a 1989 batch pass out from the Electrical Engineering Department of then MMMEC. It aims to promote development of well rounded abilities and principles based value system early in life – two things that Rishi cherished a lot and exemplified for the rest of us.
For the year 2015, RSM Scholarship will pay TWO scholarship awards of Rupees 50,000 and Rupees 30,000 respectively to two top scoring students per the process described below.
Only Fourth Year students of a 4 year degree course being run at MMM University of Technology, Gorakhpur – 273010, UP, India (MMMUT) are eligible for this scholarship grant. The student can be from any branch of engineering. However, this scholarship is currently not open for any other courses being conducted at MMMUT, e.g. M.B.A., M.C.A., M. Tech. or Ph. D.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for RSM scholarship, the candidate needs to be :
1. A Full Time student of 4th Year of an Engineering course at MMMUT at the time of applying.
2. Has no back papers or grace marks during the first 3 years of college.
3. Has proven herself/himself as an All-Round achiever during the first 3 years of college.
4. Has a clearly articulated career vision for self and a good understanding of how to make it happen.
Selection Process:
The selection process consists of 3 steps :
1. Evaluation of Application (50 points)
2. Two Personal Statements on Career Vision, Ethics & Values (25 points)
3. Telephone Interview (25 points)
Only short-listed candidates from stages 1 and 2 will be invited to participate in the subsequent stages. MMMAS Fund reserves the right to determine the number of candidates progressing from one stage to the next.
1. Evaluation of Application (total 50 points). Each application received will be scored against the following evaluation criteria and assigned a total score out of 50 points.:
a. Family Income (20 points) – The points assigned will be determined based on the Annual Total Family Income of the candidate and the number of dependents in the family.
b. Academic Performance during B. Tech. (10 points) – Average marks obtained in first 6 semesters of college.
c. Co-Curricular activities (20 points) – The points for this category will be determined based on the performance in the following 2 categories during the 3 years at MMMUT
i. Research / Publications / Project Work (max 10 points):
2 points for each contribution – publication to a national/international journal, paper presented at national/international conference, National competition won, etc.
ii. Non Technical Co-curricular Activities (max 10 points):
1 point for participation OR 2 points for leading activities in cultural, literary, sports, clubs, committees, community service or any other fields.
2. Personal Statements (25 points). ONLY a select number of top scoring candidates from Step 1 will be invited to participate in Step 2. Candidates selected for this round will need to write two personal statements (600 words maximum). The topics offered will vary from career goals, importance of Values & Ethics to topics of current interest. Each statement will be evaluated by more than one reviewer from an independent panel. The average of scores from all reviewers will be added to the total score from Step 1 to arrive at Step 2 Score for the short-listed candidates.
3. Telephone Interview (25 points). A telephone interview will be conducted for five candidates with highest cumulative score from #1 and #2 above. This interview will be conducted via teleconference witha panel consisting of a mix of benefactors and patrons for RSM Scholarship. Two winners will be decided based on the cumulative score from #1, #2 and #3 above. The benefactors reserve the right to grant or not grant any additional prizes based on the merit of individual cases.
Application Process:
The applications are invited in the attached MS Excel format only. Scanned copies of all the following documents are required to be submitted with the application. All the items have to be verified by the Dean of Student Affairs, MMMUT before scanning.
1. Income Certificate duly signed by the parent/guardian including the number of dependents
2. Marks-sheets for all 6 semesters at MMMUT
3. A list of all co-curricular activities claimed against category 1.c.i and 1.c.ii above.
All Applications need to be sent via email only to MMMAS.Fund@gmail.com. The email needs to contain ONLY one .zip file with the duly filled in application template and all supporting documents as listed above. Applications not following these guidelines or having incomplete information will be summarily rejected without an appeals process.
About MMM Alumni Scholarship Fund (MMMAS Fund):
MMMAS Fund has been established with seed money provided by overseas alumni of MMMUT. The funds generated through MMMAS Fund will be used to award a variety of alumni funded scholarships in many fields to students of MMMUT over time. As the funding and outreach increases, more scholarships will be awarded by the fund.
About Rishi Shukla:
Rishi was born in 1966 in Alambagh area of Lucknow, the City of Nawabs. He was fifth in a family of 8 siblings. As a proud recipient of the National Talent Scholarship, Rishi did his schooling till Class 12th at the prestigious Yadavindra Public School, Patiala. There he also picked his first love, the Urdu language. He developed a deepinterest and understanding of Urdu poetry, particularly by Mirza Ghalib and Sahir Ludhianvi. His command over Urdu spilled over naturally to those who spent even a small amount of time with him. A lot of his friends and family owe their appreciation of ghazals and Urdu to him.
