Goonj Rural Fellowship

An immersive one year exposure for youth from the villages of India who are ready to act on hardcore rural challenges.

Who Can Apply?

The person must match the following three aspects;
** We are looking for people who commit to spending an entire year in different rural areas working on issues that affect the last person.
** Minimum qualification is Matriculation.
** Age between 21 to 30 year old.

Goonj Rural Application

Just follow the below steps to apply for the Goonj Fellowship 2019-20.

Steps :
Step 1 : Go to the official website of Goonj through provided above.
Step 2 : Read the instructions carefully and click on the “Download Application Form” button at the end of the page.

Step 3 : Fill up the Google form and upload a Statement of Purpose (200 words)
Step 5 : Mail us your filled application form along with your Statement of Purpose and Letter of Recomendation at fellowship [AT] goonj.org.

Step 6 : You can also courier us a hard copy of the application @ Goonj, J-93, Sarita Vihar, New Delhi-110076 with a label/subject-line named ‘Goonj Fellowship’.

Step 7 : Shortlisted applicants will proceed to round II of selection process. Shortlisted applicants from round II will be called for final Interview..

Important Points

** You can’t do any online/offline course during the fellowship period
** You can be placed in any city/rural setting for a short/long time during the fellowship.

** The issues and ideas you will be working on during the fellowship will be aligned with Goonj’s ongoing work/projects.
** If you have a specific passion/idea that you want to work on in life. Please bring it up in the application and interview.

Fellowship Highlights

In the one year of fellowship, these fellows will learn in-depth about rural issues like infrastructure, health and hygiene, education, livelihood and disaster relief-rehab etc.. working hands on with Goonj teams in rural parts of Assam, Bundelkhand, Chattisgarh and Odisha to name a few.

The one year fellowship will also include capacity building workshops, shadowing experience with sector specialists apart from hands on training about key skills like communication, financial planning, monitoring and evaluation etc.

Stipend

Fellows will be disbursed a stipend of Rs. 10000 to sustain their monthly expenditures.

FAQs

1. How will the rural exposure work? Are we expected to go and work on our own in villages ? What about our safety?
Your rural visits will be well coordinated to be in the areas where Goonj is directly or indirectly working through its pan India network of grassroots organisations. At no point will you be left on your own.

Safety of our fellows and team members is our priority. Our teams will be taking care but if you still have any specific concern, you can let us know at the interview level.

2. What sort of rural experience am I looking at here?
Fellows will prepare a 3 month project plan focussing on any of the impact areas Goonj works on i.e water, sanitation, infrastructure, education, menstrual hygiene, based on insights gained out of Goonj’s two decades of work.

These proposed projects will be presented to a panel of experts who will help finetune them,post which fellows will get a chance to implement them, working closely with the Goonj team.

3. Is this a residential program?
No this is not a residential program.
