Meghalaya NEC Scholarship

Fresh and renewal applications are invited from the students who are permanent residents in the State of Meghalaya studying within and outside the state for the year 2018-19 for grant of North Eastern Council Merit Scholarship for the General, SC/ST students undergoing Vocational/Technical courses.

These stipends and book grants are available for studies in India only and shall be awarded by the North Eastern States from the fund allotted by North Eastern Council Secretariat, Shillong.

Who Can Apply?

** General candidates who secure 70% and above and those SC/ST candidates who secure 60% and above in their last final examination are eligible to apply.

** The income ceiling of the beneficiary’s Parents/Guardian should not exceed 4.5 (lakh) per annum.
** The stipends and book grants are open only to a candidate who is a permanent resident of any of the States in the North East.

** In-service candidates are not covered by this scheme.
** Selection of students form M.Phil. and Ph.D should be done on the basis of topic of research which has relevance to N.E. Region.

** Financial assistance of stipend/book grant shall be admissible to students taking admission in the courses specified hereinafter in all institutes recognized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development/respective Ministry of the Government of India.

Note :
Students who applied as a fresh candidate in 2017-18 will only be considered for renewal under the scheme.

How to Apply?

Students studying within the State are to collect the forms from their respective institutions, whereas students studying outside the State may collect the forms from the Office of the undersigned, Room No. 206(A) from 4th July, 2018 onwards.

All Principals submitting the application forms should submit the list of applicants along with the soft copy of the same

Documents Required

All the students applying (both fresh renewal) under the scheme are to mandatorily submit any one of the following Id proofs if Aadhaar Number is not available.

a) Elector’s Photo Identity card
b) Indian Passport
c) Photo ID Card issued by Central t he Government or State Govt.
d) Photo Id issued by Educational Institute (For Students) and
e) Certificate issued by Bank that should be duly attested, containing applicant’s photo and Bank account number.

Rates of Scholarships

Revised Rate :
(i) Diploma – 20,000/- p.a
(ii) Degree – 22,000/-p.a
(iii) Post Graduate – 25,000/-p.a
(iv) M.Phil/Ph.D – 30,000/

The last date of submission of application forms will be on or before the 30th November, 2018.
