PUE MHRD Scholarship

Department of Pre University Education, Karnataka invites online applications for MHRD Scholarship for the academic year 2018-19.

Central Sector Scholarship Scheme provide financial assistance to meritorious students from low income families to meet a part of their day-to-day expenses while pursuing higher studies.

Eligibility

** Students from the domicile state of Karnataka
** Students who are above 80th percentile of successful candidates in the relevant stream from a particular Board of Examination in Class XII

** The parental/family income ceiling is Rs. 6 lakh per annum for all categories.
** Students pursuing Diploma courses are not eligible under the scheme and Not receiving any other scholarship

How to Apply?

The scheme is apply through National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Just follow the below steps to apply for the Central Sector Scheme Of Scholarships 2018-19.

Apply Online : https://scholarships.gov.in

Step 1 : Go to the official Website of National Scholarship Portal and Click on New Registration button

Step 2 : Go through/Read carefully the guidelines for Registration on National Scholarship Portal. After reading guidelines click on “Continue” button

Step 3 : A new page requesting to enter the personal data will be displayed. Fill student registration form.

Step 4 : Click on the Check boxes of Aadhar consent, Bank Account and Application form. After entering all required details Click on the Register button.

Step 5 : Student registration ID will be displayed. (Note down the Student Registration ID number for further reference and enquiries. Click on “Continue” button, it will take you to the Login Page.

Step 6 : The login id and password to log into NSP portal will be your Application Id and DOB respectively.

Step 7 : After Login Student will get OTP of 5 digits on Registered Mobile Number. Confirm OTP will take you to Change Password Page and Change your password as per instruction in the same page.

Step 8 : Click ‘’Apply’’ button and enter below details

Step 9 : After entering above details click on “Save & Continue” to Switch on to next Page. Applicant is directed to see the next page for “Contact Details & Scheme Details”

** Enter your contact details.
** Based on eligibility criteria of the student, schemes will be displayed.
** Select “Central Sector Scholarship Scheme” for College & University Students

Step 10 : Click on Final Submit. Take a print on Clicking print Button for further reference and as an Acknowledgement.

Allocation Of Scholarships

** 80% of the scholarships will be allotted for the state of karnataka. 50 % of the scholarship is earmarked for girls.

** The number of scholarships allotted to a State Education Board is distributed amongst pass outs of the Science, Commerce and Humanities streams in the ratio of 3:2:1.

Reservation

Reservations for the various categories are as follows :
** Scheduled Castes (SCs) 15 % ,
** Scheduled Tribes ( STs) 7.5 %,
** Other Backward Classes(OBCs) 27 %
** Horizontally 5 % for Physically Handicapped / Persons(s) with Disabilities (PwDs) in all the categories.

Rate Of Scholarships

** The rate of scholarship is Rs.10000/- per annum at Graduation level for first three years of College and University courses and Rs.20000/- per annum at Post- Graduation level.

** Students pursuing professional courses, in case, where the duration of course is five (5) years/Integrated course would get Rs.20000/- per annum in the 4th and 5th year.

Selection Procedure

** The online applications would be verified at two levels
(i) By the Institute where the student is studying.
(ii) By the respective State Education Board.

** Application which is not verified either by the institute or by the concerned State Education Board or by both will be treated as “Invalid‟.
** Merit list as per the State allocated quota would be generated from the verified applications.

FAQs

1. Who will invite Applications for this scholarship?
The Department of Pre-University Education, Malleswaram, Bangalore, shall invite applications from the eligible Pre-University candidates. This will be hosted on the P.U Website. A press note shall be released in this regard.

2. Where will this application form be available?
A format of the application form is hosted on the PU website. The same can be downloaded. A copy of the same would be made available in all the University Offices, Department of Collegiate Education and District Deputy Director offices of Pre-University Education

3. Who will renew the Scholarship for the awardees in the subsequent years?
The Department will invite the applications for ‘renewal’ for the concerned year. Students should fill the application form and send the same to the department through their Principals.

The Principals should certify that the candidates have got more than 60% marks in the concerned Year’s Examination and have 75% of attendance for that year. They should give character certificate also.

The Department shall transfer the renewal amount to the eligible candidates in the same wayas was done earlier to the student’s individual account through online after getting the scholarship amount sanctioned from the MHRD.
