M. P. Birla Sponsorship For Higher Studies:
To encourage Pointers to pursue higher studies abroad, the Kosh selects one or two students from those who have passed out from South Point and intend to pursue higher studies abroad. This Sponsorship For Higher Studies takes care of a part of the student’s expenses with an amount not exceeding Rs.40,000/-. The selection is subject to certain eligibility criteria.
M. P. Birla JBNSTS Scholarship:
Under the M. P. Birla JBNSTS Scholarship one scholarship is given by the Kosh every year to a student of South Point who secures the highest marks among all Pointers appearing in the Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Scholarship Examination.
The M. P. Birla Award Scholarship Scheme:
The M. P. Birla Scholarship Scheme is given to deserving students of Classes III to X. The first twenty rank-holders of Classes II to IX are evaluated internally, based on their sustained performance over the last two academic years. The top performers, thus identified from each class, are interviewed for the Scholarship for the following academic session. The Scholarship includes their monthly fees and expenses for uniform, textbooks and exercise books. The Scholarship is granted on a year-to-year basis. The scholarship is also given to rankers of the Madhyamik Pariksha who take admission in South Point High School. It includes their monthly fees and the use of reference books.
The M. P. Birla Memorial Award:
The M. P. Birla Memorial Award is given to the All-Bengal Topper in Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Examination. The student securing First position in this examination in West Bengal is awarded a medal, a certificate and a cheque for Rs.9,000/-. The student of South Point who secures first position in School in Higher Secondary and All India Senior School Certificate Examination receive a medal, a certificate and a cheque for Rs.9,000/-.
Five Inter-School Competitions are held every year for the M. P Birla Memorial Trophy. These are:
** Q-Point, Inter-School Quiz Competition
** Satrangi, Inter-School Singing Competition
** Masquerade, Inter-School One-Act Play Competition
** Perceptum, Inter-School Open Essay Competition
** Chessmate, Inter-School Chess Championship
Six Inter-School Competitions are held every year for the M. P Birla Memorial Trophy. These are:
** Q-Point, Inter-School Quiz Competition
** Satrangi, Inter-School Singing Competition
** Masquerade, Inter-School One-Act Play Competition
** Perceptum, Inter-School Open Essay Competition
** Chessmate, Inter-School Chess Championship
** Cerebrate, Inter-School Debate Competition
Founder’s Medal (Satikanta Guha Memorial Award):
This Award is given for the Best All-Round Performance on the basis of excellence in academic and extra-academic levels.
It carries a prize worth Rs.6000/- in three categories: Classes I to V; Classes VI to X; and Classes XI and XII.
M. P. Birla Award for Toppers:
All toppers in the School’s Annual Examinations from Class II onwards get the M. P. Birla Award for Toppers in the form of a medal and a certificate. In addition, the Toppers in the Annual Examinations of Classes V, X and XII (in each of the three streams) are given a cheque for Rs.9,000/- each.
The M. P. Birla Special Talent Award:
The M. P. Birla Special Talent Award goes to an exceptionally talented student in any sphere, carrying a prize of Rs.9,000/-. a medal and a certificate.
The M. P. Birla Award for Excellence in Co-Curricular Activities:
The M. P. Birla Award for Excellence in Co-Curricular Activities is given to a Pointer who is brilliant in any extra-curricular activity, carrying a prize of Rs.6,000/-, a medal and a certificate.
The Priyamvada Birla Brave Hearts Award:
The Priyamvada Birla Brave Hearts Award is a most special award instituted by the M. P. Birla Smarak Kosh to salute differently abled students who cope with academics despite the challenges they face, carrying a prize of Rs.9,000/- and a certificate.
