“NTPC Limited, Maharatna and India’s number 1 power generation company, invites applications for grant of 100 Scholarships under ‘NTPC Scholarship Scheme’ for meritorious Schedule Caste/ Schedule Tribe/ Physically Challenged students, who are pursuing BE/B.Tech from IITs/NITs/BITS India, and have successfully passed their first year examinations ( 1st & 2nd semester) in first attempt in academic year 2014-15 and are in 2nd year in academic year 2015-16.

Salient Features

Applicable to : SC/ST/PC students pursuing Full time B.E/B.Tech in Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Computer Science , Electronics & Communications , Civil, Chemical, IT & Biotechnology.

Specified Institutes : IITs, NITs, BITS-India.

Amount & Duration : Rs. 4000/- P.M. for 48 months(full course period-4 years)

Eligibility :
SC/ST/PC students in their 2nd year of study in the academic year 20015-16. Students availing of scholarship / financial assistance/stipend from any other institute need not apply.

How to Apply

Students can obtain the Application formats from the Head of the Institution or his authorized representative. The application form with full details of the scheme, can also be downloaded from NTPC website www.ntpc.co.in./notices. The application duly filled along with Caste/Disability Certificate, as the case may be, should be submitted, along with attested copies of mark sheets of the 1st year (annual / semester examinations) to the Head of the Institution. The Institution shall scrutinize and verify the certificates and shortlist 10 best candidates in each category SC, ST and PC and send these applications to NTPC at the following address latest by 14.08.2015

Objective Of The Scheme

With a view to focus on its role of a socially responsible and conscious entity, besides, being the country’s premier power producer, the company endeavors to take the responsibility for finding out ways in which it can contribute to a fruitful impact in the cause of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Physically Challenged persons.

Coverage:
NTPC scholarship shall be awarded to the students pursuing full time degree course in engineering from any IITs, NITs & BITS in Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Computer Science , Electronics & Communications , Civil, Chemical, IT & Biotechnology from 1st year of full time course within prescribed period.

Number Of Scholarships:
The number of scholarships in various disciplines of Engineering will be decided by the management from time to time. At present the total number of scholarships for graduate engineering students is 100 in the ratio of 60-SC-30-ST- 10-PC( 6-OH/2-VH/2-HH). However, disability may be exchanged/substituted in case students from any particular disability is not available.

Value And Duration Of Scholarship:
The value of scholarship is Rs.4000/- per month. The scholarship shall be paid for all 12 months in a year for the entire period of the course as per the procedure mentioned herein after.

Conditions For Award Of Scholarship

1. NTPC Scholarship shall be awarded to deserving SC/ST/PC students pursuing full time degree course in the branch of engineering notified by NTPC.
2. Students in receipt of NTPC scholarship will not be entitled to draw any other scholarship/financial aid/stipend from any other source whatsoever.

Procedure For Award Of Scholarship

The award of scholarship and continuance thereof will be regulated as under:
1. Corporate Welfare Group shall be the Nodal Agency for administering the Scheme.
2. Corporate Welfare Group shall intimate the details of the Scheme to the Head of Institutes (as Annex-A), requesting to forward 10 applications in each category i.e. SC/ST/PC.
3. Head of Institution may notify the Scheme appropriately among the eligible candidates including displaying on notice boards.
4. Students may also apply against a Notification in NTPC website, announcing the availability of NTPC scholarship
5. Selection will be made on the basis of performance in the first year examination in the engineering college and any other criteria that may be decided by NTPC.
6. The applications should be sponsored by the appropriate authority of the concerned Institution/College by a suitable endorsement on the application form. (Forms enclosed) at Annex-II.
7. The application must be accompanied by a Caste Certificate issued by the prescribed Authority, in the form prescribed by the Govt. Format of the Certificate , alongwith a list of authorities empowered to issue SC/ST Certificate is attached. In case of Physically disabled students, the application must be accompanied by a disability certificate issued by an appropriate authority notified for this purpose, in the format prescribed.
8. It will be responsibility of the Institute to verify the Caste/Disability Certificate.
9. The NTPC Scholarship will be subject to the continuous satisfactory performance and good conduct during the course. Awardees of scholarship who fail to pass the semester and or/annual examination in the 1st attempt as the case may be, and on indulging in any activity amounting to misconduct as per the rules and regulations of Institution are liable to be disqualified from any further scholarship award for which an annual and semester wise report shall be forwarded by concerned Institution.

Commencement Of The Scheme:
NTPC Scholarship Scheme-XXIV will commence from the academic year 2014-15.

Payment Of Scholarship

Payment of NTPC Scholarship may be made to the awardee through the concerned authority of the Institution in a manner as decided by the NTPC Management.

Scholarship, for the previous period, shall be paid to the selected candidates in one lump sum on successfully completion of each year, subject to the fulfillment of criterion that may be decided by the Company.

General

The decision of the Company with regard to award of scholarship, continuance and/or discontinuance as the case may be, shall be final and binding.

NTPC reserves the right to alter, modify or withdraw the scheme as considered necessary.

The candidates availed Scholarship from NTPC for the duration of the course will not entail upon NTPC any liability for his/her employment.
