Overseas Scholarship for Minority Students

The state Government through the Directorate of Minorities has introduced a scheme for providing financial assistance to Minority students of Karnataka State for pursuing higher studies abroad in Master Degree. Ph.D and Post Doctoral Courses etc. In prestigious Foreign Universities.

Interested Minority Community students of Karnataka state Domicile can apply in the prescribed application downloading the same from the official website of Directorate of Minorities, gokdom.kar.nic.in.

Minority Students opting to pursue higher studies in the following subjects only can apply and get benefit of financial assistance through Directorate of Minorities, Bangalore.

Subjects

1) Automation Robotics including Artificial Intelligence, Mechatronics and Manufacturing Technology. 2) Laser Technology 3) Paper technology 4) Naval Architecture/Offshore Structures/Architecture in General. 5) Information Technology including Computer Engineering Software, software Quality Assurance, Networking /Connectivity Engineering, Communication system, under hazardous or Post – Disaster conditions, Multimedia communication 6) Low temperature Thermal Dynamics 7) Optomatry 8) Art Restoration technology 9) Ceramic and Glass Technology 10) Dock and Harbour Engineering 11) Bio- Technology/ Genetic Engineering 12) Industrial Safety 13) Petroleum Technology 14) Aircraft/ Space Engineering 15) Imaging System Technology 16) Graphic engineering 17) Composite materials engineering including Decentralized Power, Distribution (for Solar Heat) System, Energy Storage Engineering, Energy conservation, Energy efficient habitat Engineering, 18) Satellite or remote Sensing 19) Packaging Engineering/ Technology 20) Nuclear Engineering 21) Medicine / Dental / Nursing/ Para- Medical 22) Business Administration/ Management Studies 23) MPhil/Ph.d in any area of applied Sciences., Basic Sciences, Cultural and Historical Studies. In addition to these subjects any other course the screening committee of the department may in special cases consider the course not listed above.

Eligibility

** For Post Doctoral:- Preference will be given to 60% and above marks or equivalent grade in relevant Master Degree/Ph.d.
** For Ph.d:- Preference will be given to 60% and above marks or equivalent grade in relevant Master Degree.
** For Master Degree:- Preference will be given to 60% and above marks or equivalent grade in relevant Bachelor Degree.
** The student must be a domicile of Karnataka.

Age Limlit:
The student must be below 38 years from the date of commencement of the opted course or subjects selected for higher Studies.

Financial Assistance & Income limit

A total Scholarship of Rs.10.00 lakh per annum and a maximum of Rs.20.00 lakh (for 2 years) for the entire course will be sanctioned to the candidates whose total income from all sources of the candidate and his/her parents/ Guardians should not exceed Rs.6.00 lakhs per annum & for those students whose total income from all sources is between Rs. 6.00 lakhs per annum to Rs 15.00 Lakhs per annum they are eligible for 50% of the Scholarship subject to a maximum of Rs. 5.00 lakhs per annum (for 2 years).

The amount also covers the cost of one side air fare as has been prescribed for all levels of courses covered under the scheme. The students are supposed to furnish their Bank Account Number, IFSC Code and Name and Branch of the Bank and other details in the application.

Mode of selection

The candidates after assessing their eligibility and suitability and as per conditions of the scheme shall apply to the Director, Directorate of Minorities, 20th Floor, V.V.Towers, Bangalore-560001 (Employed candidates have to apply through proper channel) in the prescribed application form. The candidates will be selected in pursuance of the guidelines followed by an interview by the selection Committee of short listed candidates.

Last date to submit application:- 01.08.2015.

Checklist Of Enclosures

1. Copy of Income Certificate Issued by the Tahsildar within last one year
2. Attested Copy of Degree certificate
3. Attested Copies of all marks cards of entire degree course/ previous examination, semesters
4. Attested copy of currently valid Indian passport
5. Attested copy of visa (if available)
6. Copy of Admission/ offer letter from university/College where admission has been obtained
7. Copy of details of course fees and fees break-up of course to which you are selected
8. Personnel statement of the candidate presenting his/ her case for scholarship (Not more than 2 pages)
9. 1st recommendation / reference letter – academic
10. 2nd recommendation / reference letter – in case of currently employed applicants, it has to be from a professional, preferably his/ her superiors, else it can be academic (Not more than 2 pages on A4 size )
11. Proof of involvement in Extra-curricular/ Social/ Community development activities (If any)
12. Copy of letter indicating award of scholarship/ grant received for course from university/ college where admission has been obtained (If any)
13. Scholarships/ grants received from any other agency/ institution previously (if any)
14. Printout of ranking/ rating of course/ college from global university rankings (if any)

Filled in applications must be sent to Directorate of Minorities, 20th Floor, V.V.Towers, Bangalore – 560001. On or before the last for submission of this application. Kindly write “OVERSEAS SCHOLARSHIP FOR MINORITIES 2015-16” on the Envelope before sending it to the Directorate of Minorities, Bangalore-01. Applications submitted after the last date of submission will not be accepted and incomplete application will also be rejected.
