KBAT Admission BiSEP Fellowship

Student Fellowship Support for candidates selected for admission to courses offered under BiSEP of the selected 18 host institutions will be eligible to receive student fellowship at the rate of Rs.10000/- p.m from KBITS.

In order to receive Rs.10000/- p.m student fellowship amount, the candidate need to put up minimum 75% attendance for that particular month. Candidates who do not have stipulated minimum 75% attendance per month without valid reasons as approved by competent authorities of BiSEP Host Institutes are not eligible to receive Student Fellowship Support for that particular month wherein the shortage of attendance was noted.

Department of IT & BT, Government of Karnataka is supporting Fellowship amount for eligible Resident Students from Karnataka and Department of Biotechnology, Government of India to students from other States getting enrolled for courses offered under BiSEP.

Student Course Fee Support

Government of Karnataka to bear 50% of the maximum course fee fixed at Rs.50,000/- i.e., Rs.25,000/- per student for maximum ten number of resident students of Karnataka allotted to each of the 18 eighteen host institutions.

The amount will be released to BiSEP Host Institutions directly after completing the due admission process and submission of prescribed set of documents by them. This facility is not applicable to students from other States joining the course under BiSEP.

The guidelines and instructions for candidates desirous of joining BiSEP are given below. Candidates are advised to carefully read and make themselves fully aware of said guidelines, rules and regulations. KBITS reserves the right to change the guidelines, rules and regulations without any notice.

Course Duration

Total duration : 12 months divided into two semesters. 1st semester constitutes 6 months of classroom learning by interaction with BiSEP faculty and experts from Academia / Industry. 2nd Semester constitutes Internship 6 months in a Company / Institution relevant to the chosen subject area.

Recognition & Accreditation
The BiSEP host institutions will have to seek recognition and accreditation from a competent authority for award of Post Graduate Diploma.

Eligibility For Admission To BiSEP

The candidate must have passed either Bachelors / Master’s degree examination with minimum of 50% in Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics or any other Life Science related courses OR Minimum of 50% in B.E / B.Tech. – Biotechnology or Bioinformatics, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Agriculture and Veterinary or 4 year degree courses in any branch of Life Sciences.

The minimum marks for students belonging to SC / ST categories shall be 40% in the qualifying degree examination.

Admission Procedure

The application from prospective candidate’s is called for by giving advertisement in Kannada and English newspapers circulated widely in both in Karnataka and outside Karnataka for online entrance test Karnataka – Biotechnology Aptitude Test (K-BAT) to be administrated by KBITS. The candidates will be asked to provide personal and academic details at the time of applying for registering for the KBAT. Documents to be produced:

(i) SSLC/10th standard Marks Card
(ii) 2nd PUC/12th Standard Marks Card
(iii) Bachelor and/or Master Degree Marks Cards
(iv) If claiming reservation benefits, Certificate issued by concerned competent Authority
Karnataka – Biotechnology Aptitude Test (K-BAT)

KBAT is an online Test and can be taken from anywhere with a good internet facility. KBAT aims to test fundamental and applied aspects of Biology along with logical reasoning, general English, basic Mathematics and Computer Science.

** Last Date of Online Registration for KBAT 2018 – 10th February 2018
** Online Exam Dates -15th & 16th February 2018
** Announement of KBAT Results – 20th February 2018
** Counseling & Seat Selection (at Bengaluru) – 6th & 7th March 2018
** Orientation Program & Course Commencement – 15th March 2018

  1. I did my engineering in Biotechnology in 2012. Can I apply?
