Senior Scholarship Program :

The Senior Scholarship program of JBNSTS is the core program that has been functioning since the birth of the institution in 1958. Originally , just a scholarship providing scheme, it has expanded to a holistic pedagogic ideology for the development of creative students of science.

This has been made possible by systematic research on educational needs of gifted individuals.

This scheme caters to the development of creative undergraduate students studying Basic Sciences, Engineering & Medicine in registered institutions of West Bengal. It aims to the conservation of scientific talent and the nation’s need for science and technology personnel can be met.

The motivational program for this group involves exposures to the field of creative thinking through contact programs with creative minds. The nurture and enrichment programs involve educational tours, entitlement to other scholarships, seminar programs and project work in groups.

Who can apply for the test ?:
Any Indian National who has passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination in the year of application (i.e. , current year ) and is studying B.Sc.(Hons.), Engineering or Medicine at undergraduate level in any institution, registered in West Bengal..

Application for Scholarship :

The dates of application, examination etc. are advertised in leading newspapers after the result of Higher Secondary examination (West Bengal) is declared.  It may also be obtained by post or from the office. For further details please contact.

Scholarship Test:
It is a three phased test involving written test (1st phase), Interview (2nd phase) and Scientific Creativity Test (3rd and Final phase). Only the short listed students from each phase are called for the next phase. The names of short listed candidates at each phase can be seen here. Results will be declared after every phase of examination.

Benefits to Awardees:

** A scholarship of Rs. 1000/- p.m. till M.B.B.S. for the students of medicine and till B.E. / B.Tech for the students of engineering.
** The selected scholars from basic science shall automatically be entitled to the DST-INSPIRE scholarship of Rs. 80,000/- p.a. till M.Sc.
** Annual Book Grant Rs. 1000/- p.a. for the scholars.
** Academic and Career Counseling.
** Participation in Seminars and Colloquia.
** Travel & Enrichment Programs.
** Project Work.

Best School Award:
Every year the school from where to the maximum number of awardees passed their higher secondary examination is declared as the “Best School”. The award comes in the form of a Rotating Shield and a Library Grant of Rs. 5000/-. Last (2014) award went to South Point High School, Kolkata.
