Merit-Cum-Means Based Scholarship :

Online applications are invited from students belonging to minority communities (Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Parsis & Jains) pursuing technical or professional courses at graduate/ post graduate level in the institutions in the Punjab State approved by an competent authority under Merit-cum-Means Based Scholarship Scheme for the Session 2015-16, on website scholarships.gov.in.

Eligibility & Conditions for Scholarship:
i) Annual income of the beneficiary/parent or guardian of beneficiary should not exceed Rs. 2.50 lacs from all sources.
ii) Scholarship is awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination.
iii) Renewal of scholarship depends on successful completion of the course during the preceding year and securing not less than 50% marks.
iv) A scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail any other scholarship/stipend for pursuing the same course.
v) A student residing in Punjab State is entitled for scholarship under the quota of the State irrespective of his place of study.
vi) Income certificate should be on self certification basis by way of an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper for self-employed parents/guardian and from employer for employed parents/guardian.

Rate of Scholarship:
*Full course fee will be re-imbursed for National Level Institutions such as IIT’s, IIM’s etc.

Type of financial assistance:
1. Maintenance allowance from date of admission (for 10 months only):
Rate for hosteller : Rs. 10,000 per annum (Rs. 1000/- pm)
Rate for day-Scholar: Rs. 5,000 per annum (Rs. 500/- pm)

2.Course fee*:
Rate for hosteller: Rs. 20,000/- per annum or actual whichever is less
Rate for day-Scholar : Rs. 20,000/- per annum or actual whichever is less

Time Lines for Fresh/ Renewal Applications:-
Last date for submission of online applications to the institutions for fresh scholarships by students is 30th September, 2015 and hard copies to Welfare Department by the institutes is 10th October, 2015. Similarly for renewal scholarships, the last date for students is 15th November, 2015 and for the institutes is 20th November, 2015.

How to Apply :-
(a) The eligible students can apply online on the website www.scholarships.gov.in. Students will forward their applications online to the institution and will take a print out of the same. This print out along-with all requisite documents (as prescribed in the print out) will be submitted to the concerned institution. Student will get a temporary ID, which he/she will retain/ keep with him/her for any further correspondence etc.

(b) The institution will scrutinize & forward all these applications online by login on the same website with User IDs and Passwords (provided to them earlier by Welfare Department) by 20th October, 2015 for fresh and 25th November, 2015 for renewal applications.

Note:
i) Students/Institutes are advised to read the “FAQ’s and Information For Institutes” available on the home-page of the website carefully before filling online applications and scrutiny by the institutes.
ii) Institutes will ensure that only those online applications be forwarded to Welfare Department where hard copies with documents are submitted by the students and certified by them.
iii) If hard copies are not received by Welfare Department within the prescribed date, the online applications shall be rejected.
iv) No manual application will be entertained.
