Scholarships :

The Foundation provides full scholarships to deserving students in Nabha, to enable them to finish their secondary education.

Scholarships are given based on merit and need. The Foundation provides seven full scholarships annually, of which 2 annual scholarships are for girls at the Girls Government Secondary School, Nabha, and 5 annual scholarships are awarded to students (girls and boys) at the Punjab Public School, Nabha.

School Enrichment and Partnership Program :
The Foundation has partnered with local government schools to enable them to improve their quality of education. The Foundation promotes partnership with the government to enable change in education. Government schools are the most appropriate channel to implement large scale transformation, which can create a stronger learning environment in Nabha.

The program impacts over 3,200 children and 150 teachers in 30 villages, and focuses on the following :
** Provided teaching learning materials (books, school supplies, teaching implements) to students and teachers
** Facilitated inclusion of co-curricular activities to support the all-round development of children
** Improved school infrastructure, classrooms, libraries, toilets, and playgrounds in local schools
** Created awareness and built capacity through a health, hygiene and nutrition campaign in schools and villages

School Sponsorship Project is to develop, facilitate and implement a program to support, offer an alternative method to implement the RTE (Right to Education Act), in a way that has an immediate impact on the children’s level of education, but also create the environment within the villages to continue and improve the interaction and linkages between parents and schools, thus offering a long term sound structure as a means to bring accountability and the basics to improve the system.

It has helped to build the trust and confidence of school authorities, teachers, parents and children. Today the sponsored schools are open to work with us as they understand that the emphasis has been and will continue to be on support them to improve the conditions of the school and create an improve environment for the children to learn.

Education:
The Nabha Foundation runs free schools in Nabha that provide high quality education. As a means to build academic excellence and transform the education environment, the Foundation has established innovative schools to provide free, equitable and high quality education to children. These schools, called Navi Disha School, have over 450 children enrolled, all of whom are residents of villages of Nabha, Punjab.

The schools have a long-standing good reputation in the community through their work, which includes the following :
** Established a process of continuous academic improvement for students and teachers
** Encouraged community involvement in the learning process
** Built capacity and promote ownership and active community participation in school governance
** Created an education model to improve the local education environment

Learning Enhancement Program:
The Foundation runs a Learning Enhancement Program (LEP) to support the education of children and help bring them to their age appropriate learning levels. The Foundation provides academic support to children who are at risk of dropping out of school, to mainstream them to their age appropriate learning level.

Children with a learning backlog are enrolled, in consultation with their teachers; their progress is monitored with regular feedback provided to teachers and parents. Over 150 children have been a part of the program.

Program highlights include :
** Established LEP centers in 8 villages
** Increased retention and lowered dropout rates by at least 95%
** Appointed and trained local teachers, to build capacity within the community
** Improved interaction and feedback mechanisms with government schools
