Sunshine Scholarship :
Sunshine Scholarship Scheme 2012 (SSS2012) aims to provide financial aid to talented but underprivileged students in India.

Our founder, Dr. Tapan Kumar Mistri (who grew up in the Sundarban region), was supported by scholarships throughout his student life, and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Edinburgh.
Application Procedure (2017-18):
The applicants (from 8th standard to Bachelor degree) need to send in a completed application form along with the supporting documents.
(1) Download the application
(2) Collect the following supporting documents :
(a) An income certificate for their family from their Block/Sub Divisional Officer (B/SDO)
OR
As a temporary replacement, a letter of authorization from our respected General manager / Zonal managers provided in the application link.
(b) A copy of their academic report card with grades or marks certified by their school.
(c) A recommendation from their school headmaster or principal stating the amount required for textbooks and tuition fees.

Terms And Conditions :
1. Any student studying in class 8th – 12th or for their first undergraduate degree is eligible to apply.
2. SSS2012 does not make its decisions based on an applicant’s caste, sex or religion.
3. Priority will be given to students from the Sundarbans delta (from both India and Bangladesh).
4. Students outside the Sundarban delta can apply with a recommendation letter from their school headmaster/principal or one of our zonal managers.
5. SSS2012 scholarship recipients are selected based on the following criteria:
(a) the applicant is from an economically underprivileged area.
(b) the applicant’s family/guardians are unable to support them for financial, medical or other reasons.
(c) the applicant is motivated and shows academic promise.
6. Applicants should provide the following certificates to prove their eligibility:
(a) an income certificate duly certified by the concerned government authority. In the absence of an income certificate, a statement of recommendation verifying their family’s economic status from an SSS2012 zonal manage or trusted guarantor will be accepted, although an income certificate may have to be produced if the applicant is selected.
(b) an academic report card with marks or grades certified by their school.
(c) a letter from their school headmaster or principal outlining their academic and co-curricular achievements.
7. The decision made by the selection committee is final.
8. Selected students will be intimated through their school or an SSS2012 zonal manager.
9. Once an award has been made, applicants must confirm their acceptance of the scholarship within 15 days of notification. Failure to do so will result in the award being withdrawn and offered to another applicant.
10. Scholarship awards cannot be deferred. Applicants who are unable to commence study during the period the scholarship is offered for must re-apply the following year.
11. SSS2012 award letter with the yearly scholarship amount will be presented to selected students on a previously intimated date.
12. The award money should be solely used for school/college tuition fees and study materials.
13. Students awarded SSS2012 scholarships are eligible to apply for scholarship renewals for subsequent years of the study until they graduate from school/college.
14. For SSS2012 scholarship renewal, students need to submit the following documents:
(a) receipts and details of expenditure for the previous year’s scholarship amount. This is to ensure that scholarship money is only spent on tuition fees and school/college material.
(b) academic report card with their grades from the year the scholarship was provided for. This is to ensure that the student has benefitted from the scholarship and is progressing academically.
15. Parents whose children are not eligible for scholarship can apply for monetary support for their kids.
