MEA Scholarship :
Malayalee Engineers’ Association (MEA) of Houston, Texas, USA is inviting applications for scholarships for first-year students of Kerala origin, enrolled for at least a 4-year degree course in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, Architecture or Naval Architecture, in a nationally accredited engineering college or university in India.

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial needs. Students who have met all of the three (3) criteria provided below may only need to apply.
Criteria :
(1) Annual family income less than Rs.1,50,000 per year.
(2a) Ranked lower than 5000 (1 to 5000) in the Govt. of Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination (KEAM Rank).
OR
(2b) National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) score greater than 110 (For B. Arch students).
(3) Scored above 85% marks in Class X and XII examinations
MEA Houston has been awarding scholarships every year since 2000. Students selected for MEA scholarships will be awarded an amount of $600 per year for four / five years, subject to academic performance.
Last date for receipt of applications by MEA is October 15, 2017. Various Steps involved in the application process are provided below. Please go through each step before starting your application process.
Step 1:
Download the “Information for Applicants”. Read carefully and understand the scholarship application eligibility requirements and scholarship renewal requirements.
Step 2:
Access the “Online Simplified Scholarship Application Form”. Complete and submit the form online before October 15, 2017. If you do not meet the academic and financial criteria for eligibility to apply for the scholarship, the application form will not allow you to submit it online. If you do not meet the eligibility criteria, do not proceed with steps below since you will not qualify for a scholarship.
Step 3:
Download the “Detailed Scholarship Application Form”. You may fill it electronically and print it, or print the blank form and fill it manually. Copies of the blank forms are also acceptable.
Important Note:
The “Detailed Scholarship Application Form” is different from the “Online Simplified Scholarship Application Form”. Applicants must submit both forms to complete the application process.
Step 4:
Download the blank “Recommendation Letter Form” and have it completed and signed by the Principal, Headmaster or teacher of the school where the student studied for class X or XII.
Step 5:
Get all the required supporting documents listed in section 7.0 (Supporting Documents) of the “Information for Applicants” form
Step 6:
Scan (in .pdf format) and email the completed Detailed Scholarship Application Form, Recommendation Letter, and all supporting documents on or before October 15, 2017. Email address to send the application: meahouston.2017scholarship@gmail.com
About the MEA Scholarship initiative:
MEA is an association of Malayalee engineers living in Greater Houston area in the state of Texas, USA. The association is offering scholarships for students of Kerala origin to pursue engineering/ technology/ computer science, architecture or naval-architecture studies leading to a Bachelors degree.
Basis of Award:
Award of Scholarship shall be based on the academic merit and financial hardship of the applicant. A panel of MEA members shall select the scholarship winners based on merit and financial hardship of the candidate.
The student will become eligible for the scholarship during the FIRST year of studies. The scholarship will be renewed every year for the first four/five years of studies, provided the student has shown satisfactory performance in the preceding year.
