Minority Affairs Pre-Matric Scholarship

The scholarship at pre-matric level will encourage parents from minority communities to send their school going children to school, lighten their financial burden on school education and sustain their efforts to support their children to complete school education.

Eligibility

1. Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination
2. Annual income of their parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1 lakh.

Earmarking For Girl Students :
30% of scholarship will be earmarked for girl students. In case sufficient number of eligible girl students are not available, then the balance earmarked scholarships may be awarded to eligible boy students.

Mode of Applying

The concerned State Government/Union Territory Administration will supply the application forms. The application forms should be received back along with requisite certificates/certifications within the stipulated period.

** Submission of scholarship requirement by the States/UTs to the Ministry – 1st July to 31st August 2015
** Release of scholarship amounts to students through DBT Mode – From September 2015
** If State/UT fails to submit the proposals by such date; the funds due to that State/UT may be redistributed among other needy and deserving State/UT.

How to Apply

1. Visit Ministry of Minority Affairs website. (minorityaffairs.gov.in)
2. In the Scholarship scheme click on the “To Apply Online” link that will redirect to the registration portal.

Selection

i. Inter-selection weightage is to be given to poverty rather than marks.
ii. In case of the renewal applications, such applications would be fully exhausted before the new applications are considered

Duration :
The scholarships will be provided for the entire course. Maintenance allowance will be given for 10 months only in an academic year.

Conditions For Scholarship

(i) Scholarship will be available to the students of minority community studying in Classes I to X. They secured 50% marks in the previous examination. Maintenance allowance will be provided to hostellers and day scholars.

(ii) Scholarship will be cancelled if a student fails to secure 50% marks in the annual examination.
(iii) Scholarship will not be given to more than two students from a family.

(iv) Students should have regular attendance.
(v) The school/institute will certify the claim of student of being an outstation student not residing in hostel of the school/institute concerned.

(vi) If a student violates school discipline or any other terms and conditions of the scholarship, scholarship may be suspended or cancelled.
(vii) If a student obtained scholarship by false statement, his/her scholarship will be cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid will be recovered.

(viii) Course fee/Tuition fee and Maintenance allowance will be credited to the school’s/institute’s bank account.

Renewal Of Scholarship :
The scholarship, once awarded, may be renewed during next academic year of the course on the production of certificate that the student has secured 50% marks.
