Japanese Government Scholarship :
1. The Government of Japan/ Embassy of Japan has invited nominations for Japanese Government scholarships for the year 2017 for award of upto 20 scholarships to School education teachers.

The scholarship aims to recruit aspiring primary to senior secondary school teachers of India to conduct research on Japanese education system for a period of 18 months starting from October 2017. An allowance of 143000 yen per month etc. will be given to the teachers selected for the scholarships. The detailed application guidelines along with the application form is enclosed here with.
2. It is requested that the list of nominated candidates along with application forms, annexures and supporting documents may be sent to this Ministry latest by 25th January 2017
3. The individual research proposals of 100 nominated candidates will also be required to be sent through email as pdf attachment file at : Santosh.verma@nic.in.
4. The candidates will be selected by an evaluation process based on their research proposal, interview and written test tentatively scheduled in the middle of March 2017.

6. The finally selected teachers would be required to be relieved from schools for the duration of the scholarship program in Japan.

National Means Cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) :
The Centrally Sponsored Scheme “National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS)” was launched in May, 2008. The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students of economically weaker sections to arrest their drop out at class VIII and encourage them to continue the study at secondary stage.
Scholarship of Rs. 6000/- per annum (Rs.500/- per month) per student is awarded to selected students every year for study in classes from IX to XII in State Government, Government aided and local body schools. There is quota of scholarships for different states/UTs. Students whose parental income from all sources is not more than Rs. 1,50,000/- are eligible to avail the scholarships. There is reservation as per State Government norms.
The selection of students award of the scholarships is made through an examination conducted by the State Governments. Scholarships are disbursed by the State Bank of India directly into the bank accounts of students on quarterly basis.
The students studying in “Kendriya Vidalayas and “Jawahar Vavodaya Vidlayas” are not entitled to get scholarship under this scheme. Similarly, those students studying in Residential Schools run by the State Government Institutions, where facilities like boarding, lodging and education are provided and students studying in private schools are also not eligible for the scholarship under this scheme.
The proposals/list of beneficiaries for the academic year 2015-16 is required to be submitted/ uploaded on-line over National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
