The Fellowship Programme of Azim Premji Foundation aims to give a hands on, enriching experience of the school education system to people coming from diverse domains and professions.

During this comprehensive 2-year programme, we will focus:
Year 1:
** Hands on Teaching at government schools in the Blocks of a district
** Deep immersion in education to kindle, develop and build incumbent’s perspectives
** Participation in the activities of the District Institute (DI) where you are placed and to understand the various roles in the DI.
Year 2 :
Year 2 activities will be spent in capacity building preparing for a suitable role that an incumbent might choose in the DI after the completion of the Fellowship Programme.
During this 2 year period Foundation will provide opportunities to build an understanding in the area of education through teaching and capacity building through various roles in the DI. Every Fellowship participant be actively mentored and will benefit from hands-on experience of working in the field.
Fellowship candidates will be posted to rural districts of the 8 states that we work out of. Fellowship candidates are expected to be prepared to live and work in rural environments which provides an important exposure to challenging living conditions of that terrain. Fellows will be posted to interior districts of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Telangana.
Eligibility:
We welcome young and bright people from a variety of backgrounds with willingness to explore the social sector and a deep desire to contribute to the Education space.
Fellow candidates are eligible to apply if they have:
** 3 to 10 years of work experience.
** A post-graduate or a professional degree in any discipline.
** Proficiency in local languages (Hindi or Kannada or Tamil or Telugu)
Note:
** Applicants are requested to apply before November 30, 2016.
** All applications will be screened.
** Shortlisted applicants will be invited for the online test on December 4,2016
** Applicants who qualify the written test will be invited for personal interviews to be held at multiple locations from December 19 to 23, 2016. Interview locations will be communicated at a later point of time

01. What will I do during the 2 years of Fellowship?
During the first year, you would be introduced to the education sector and our work in the field locations. This will be enabled by the teaching experiences you undertake in government schools and through interaction with the local community.
In your second year, you will gain specific exposure to the identified area of your contribution. This could be through active involvement in the activities and programmes in that area strengthening your understanding and ability in that identified role.
02. What kinds of work areas are available during the Fellowship programme?
The Fellows at the Field Institute would build their experience by teaching in government schools, immersion in education to develop/ build their perspective along with participation in Field Institute activities to understand the various roles.
Some of the other areas that a Fellow can actively participate in at the Field Institute during the 2nd year could be as follows:
Teacher and Head Teacher Professional Development
Research and analytics
Documentation, designing publications and establishing external connects.
03. Do I need to have any social sector experience to apply?
No, social sector experience is not mandatory. However, a deep interest or social conscience for any issues faced in today’s context will be an advantage. We are inviting people who have a passion for catalyzing social change.
04. Where will I live and work?
Your location of work will be in one of the blocks of the District Institute and the same will be communicated to you closer to the date of your joining.
05. Since I will be working in rural India, do I need to know the local language?
Yes, it is very important to be able to read and write in the local language. For example if you are posted to Sirohi District Institute, you need to be able to read and write in Hindi.
06. What support will I receive during the programme?
Each Fellow will have mentors assigned to him / her during the Fellowship period. Fellows will receive continuous support from these mentors and from the Fellowship Team.
07. What opportunities will be available after I complete the programme?
There will be opportunities to work with Azim Premji Foundation after the successful completion of the two year programme.
