Migration of Scholarships/Fellowship
The UGC has signed an MoU with Canara Bank for Migration of data from branch based system to University based one. Pursuant to this, Canara Bank branches will not accept certificates from students/scholars after 31st May 2018.

After 31.05.2018, the scholars will approach their University/College/Institute for updation of master data on the web portal viz. updating of continuation certificate, updation of upgradation of fellowship, discontinuation of scholarship/fellowship, change of institution, termination of fellowship etc which is required for release of payments.

1. Who is eligible to get MRP assistance?
The University Grants Commission will provide support to permanent/regular working/retired teachers in the State, Central, Deemed and Private Universities and Colleges (Under Section 2(f) and 12 B of UGC Act, 1956) only.
2. What is the procedure for applying?
All eligible permanent teachers may submit their MRP applications ONLINE in the prescribed proforma available on the UGC website. Before submitting to UGC, the concerned institute should get the proposal assessed by their Research bodies with a certificate that the proposed research work is in conformity with the MRP guidelines.
3. What is a gap year for applying another project?
After completion of one project (date of finalization of accounts of the project), if a teacher desires to undertake another UGC project, a gap of one year will be necessary.
4. Is It Mandatory For Minority Institutions To Give Reservation To SC/ST/OBC In Teaching And Non-Teaching post or have they discretion?
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers vested under Section 20(1) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 the Government hereby directs the UGC to ensure effective implementation of the reservation policy in the Central Universities and those of Institutions Deemed to be Universities receiving aid from the Public funds except in minority institutions under Article 30(1) of the Constitution.

I received JRF in Dec 2019, my university has been trying to update details since June 2019 but to no avail. Every month, the nodal officer updates details and when I have to approve them, it shows error. If others are facing this issue please reply or if you have resolved it, please let me know how.

I faced the same problem. In the joining report you are supposed to provide two dates, one of them is the date of registration and another one appears to be the result date but it’s not. You are supposed to enter the admission date over there if you cleared JRF before Ph.D. admission. However, if someone cleared JRF after Ph.D. admission the result date must be entered in that field.

I was selected for Ishan Uday scholarship for NER 2018-19 batch. I have given account details of State Bank of India. The payment status showed 78,000.00. I am a regular student of B.Arch. 10th semester, in the School of Architecture, DKNMU. I am an awardee of Ishan Uday scholarship for NER 2014-15 batch, I have already submitted my all pending forms and progress report up to 30/06/2018 in scholarship UGC Canara Bank portal. And I have been received scholarship amount in my Canara Bank account regularly up to 31/03/2017. As per new guide line of UGC, I have to link my student ID through my institute DKNMU.
But, I could not link my ID to Canara Bank as per UGC guideline. I have requested to DKNMU office regarding this matter but they still saying that, they can not do anything, as they do not know the procedure. As a result my scholarship amount is still pending. I, SURAIYA RAHAMAN, am a research scholar, Department of History, Aliah University, Kolkata. I had been awarded for MANF, UGC in the session 2014-15. The letter reference number is F1-17.1/2014-15/MANF-2014-15-MUS-WES-39831 (SA-III/website) dated: Feb, 2015. The fellowship is not credited from the month April 2018 to November 2018. Only HRA is credited on 01/12/2018 for five (5) months from the above mention period (8-months). I shall be highly obliged if you kind inform me what can I do in this regard.

I am a scholar at Central University of Jammu under JRF scheme. I submitted my continuation certificates till March, 2018 in Canara bank for updation which got authorization from UGC to disburse the fellowship. I had awarded as Post Doctoral Fellowship for women for the year 2009-10/2010-11. I had reported as Post Doctoral Research Fellow on 1st February 2012 in the Department of Industrial Chemistry, Kuvempu University.
I had received fellowship from joining to till June 2016 from offline mode, but from DBT mode I had received the fellowship for three months (July 2016 to September 2016) in the form of JRF (Rs. 38,800) instead of SRF, thereafter I received the fellowship from October 2016 to January 2017 in SRF form and also I received HRA of July to October in JRF. Please make an arrangement to get difference amount. Later I did not get HRA from November 2016 to January 2017.

I have been selected for URH (PG Scholarship for University Rank Holders) and I have received the award letter as well. As per the procedure in award letter, I have submitted joining report and award letter to the institution. Further in linking by the institution, respective staff member entered wrong bank details (IFSc, Account number) and so my beneficiary code was rejected. Then we proceed to correct those details in institution itself through ‘Correction If Beneficiary Code Rejected’ page many times. I am a Senior Research Fellow in Panjab University, Chandigarh and was awarded with BSR fellowship in Sciences in 2015. I have submitted my all continuation forms (till date), HRA forms (till date) and Contingency reports (till 2017-2018) for upgradation from JFR to SRF to Canara bank. It is supposed to get Rs.25000 contingency however, I have received only Rs.12000 Contingency for 2017-2018 session. Moreover, there is a problem in uploading of HRA certificates. I am getting Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship from UGC at an autonomous organisation of Department and Forest of Odisha which is registered under different universities of Odisha and registered under PFMS system. As per UGC-Canara bank, I have to get the login ID and password for my PFMS account. The link which given for manual is asking login ID and password. The main problem is how to get this login ID and who will provide this. I have mailed to the mail ID which is given but no answer there. Then how can we get the login ID and password for further upload of certificates?
I have passed NET held on 20.12.2015 and issued it on 19.05.16. I have joined in Ph.D on 10.05.2018 i.e.before two years from the date of issue. When I submitting joining report in University they told validity for JRF is 6 months from the date of issue of Letter, so rejected it. In the bank also, it got rejected. But one of my friend passed NET same time and he joined after 1 year from the date of issue of letter. What should I do? Please help.
With due respect, I would like to inform you that, as a research scholar I am really facing a lot of problems due to have not been getting my fellowship amounts since last six months of this ongoing year. Sadly I inform you that, even I did all my necessary job of regarding your official guidance and it has authorised also on the month of March 2018. But result is like just “waiting for Godot”. Why? So I request you to please give me the solution what to do.
I have got my UGC-RGNF award letter recently, in the award letter they told me to join in the fellowship within one month, I have submitted joining and award letter in the institute. But our institute/University doesn’t have user ID and password to upload my details. If University has failed uploaded details does it mean I have not joined?
After 31.05.2018, the scholars will approach their University/ College/ Institute for updation of master data on the web portal viz updating of continuation certificate, updation of upgradation of fellowship, discontinuation of scholarship/fellowship, change of institution, termination of fellowship etc which is required for release of payments.
It’s a disgrace how the University works. Its been 18 months that I have not received the UGC NET JRF scholarship amount. I no more feel it to be a prestigious award. Initially was told by UGC that I need to forward the documents to Canara Bank. The bank held the documents for 7 months but couldn’t do anything. Now UGC said to give to College but college was unaware about the procedure. UGC then said to enquire about training program for the same on the website but nothing available on it. College officials went especially to Delhi to find about it and received a password and userid. Now when the College authorities are trying to login, there is no option to upload the documents and says that master data not approved. Can anyone help and if any UGC officials are reading then how to claim the money?

I have gone through the similar problem you faced. Your data need to be uploaded and then submitted to UGC/Canara Bank portal by your University. There is a link related to upload and submit the master data on that portal. If your university is still unable to upload it then it is related to technical issues concerned to Canara Bank. I am also a UGC JRF and faced similar problem. My data got uploaded to the portal but there was no submit option to submit the data. My University officials went to UGC, New Delhi but the problem did not resolve. Finally I lodged a public grievance and the problem resolved just within one month. So you can lodged a public grievance if the problem persists. There is a Directorate of Public Grievance which most of us not aware about but it has been known to be a savior in many cases.

After March, 31st Canara bank is not uploading the documents. The documents will be uploaded by your respected institute. First they will send your data to the UGC for confirmation and then they will upload your HRA and continuation certificate.

There is a list of affiliated bank especially for scholarship, you have to open an account in that branch only. Check the branch list near to your city, create new account and then do the same process. You can view branch list on PGSPROF Website.
I have qualified UGC JRF in July 2016. I joined for PhD in December 2017 in Madras School of Social Work, an autonomous institution affiliated to University of Madras. Now I received Provisional Registration from university and so I have given all my documents to Canara Bank for getting fellowship. But the Bank personnel said that they are unable to process it and it has to be done by the Institution. I have informed the same to the authority of Institution. But they said that they are also unable to login and they contacted UGC. But UGC helpline is not responding anything for their mail. Kindly give a solution if possible.

For uploading the master data of awardee, UGC designed a web portal. Each institute has a unique user ID and password for uploading the documents. If the institute don’t have the ID and password, Please email into [fellowshipsa3 AT gmail.com] from your institution ID.

I Garima Upadhyay apply for Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship with Disability 2016-17 on 15th August 2016 and receive the result list on April 2017. I am one of those candidates who listed for the fellowship. In the list I am on serial number 151. For the award letter verification form (duly singed by the registrar) is required (which is uploaded on their website). I upload verification form and complete it with signed by the registrar but RGNFD Sites may have suffering some problems. So I request you to kindly pay attention on the fellowship procedure. I received three years amount. The third year amount of 4,26,700/- has been sanctioned for the period from (30.9.2015 to 29.9.2016.). The fellowship amount will be paid through DBT mode. So I have refunded the prescribed amount of Rs. 1,05,489/ period (1.7.2016-29.9.2016) in the UGC account. A group of student of our institution (Chhaygon College) received Awardee letter under ISHAN UDAY scheme. In each awardee letter it is ask to registered the institution in the website “scholarship.canarabank.in/AdminLogin.aspx” but we cant registered our institution.
