NSKT gives away Scholarships and Awards to the poor and deserving students to subsidize their expenses on education.
Scholarships :
The Trust has set up a Scholarship Selection Committee comprising a panel of educationists. This Committee, along with the Trustees, decides upon the award of scholarships on means-cum-merit basis. The following scholarships are awarded :
Nehru Scholarship :
This scholarship is being awarded to the poor and deserving students whose parents are not able to bear the expenses of the books, uniforms etc. The scholarship is given right from Class-I to Class-XII. The scholarship amount is distributed in two equal instalments in a year.
The Trust has been awarding this scholarship since 1990. This scholarship is available on a continuous basis to studentsupto class 10+2 provided they clear the annual exam in the first attempt. The scholarship is sent to the school Principals/ Headmasters and Headmistresses, who in turn provide books, clothing, footwear, etc. to the students. Around 944 children are given Nehru Scholarship every year.
Mittal-Panday Scholarship (Girls) :
The Trust selects minimum 36 girl students each from nine colleges of Ludhiana each year and gives away Scholarships to them. This scholarship covers annual fees of the awardees for 3 years. The scholarship is further continued for subsequent years for the girls who score 60% or more marks in the annual exam. The yearly scholarship amount is Rs. 6000/-, which is given to the student in the month of November every year.
