Scheme details :

The objective of the scheme is to impart quality education to the Scheduled Castes (SC) students of classes V to X by admitting them in reputed schools having a good academic record and high standard of education in the district.

Facilities provided :
Each student admitted under the scheme is sanctioned financial assistance up to Rs.20,000/- per year which includes the tuition fees and the boarding charges.

Eligibility :

SC children belonging to the families of agricultural labourers, jogins, bonded laborers and orphans whose family income is less than 18000/- per annum are eligible

Selection of students :

After issue of notification in the News Papers interested applicants can apply within the given date. Proofs of Date of Birth, Ration Card, Income Certificate, Caste Certificate and Aadhar Card number have to be submitted by the candidate along with the application. The applications received are placed before the District Selection Committee which selects the allotted number of seats through the lottery system. The system of conducting admission test is dispensed with after enactment of Right to Education Act.

Schools selection :
Schools are selected by the State Level Committee. The Schools desiring to participate in the scheme will have to register online with full details of their school including infrastructure and academic record. The continuation of the schools under the scheme is based on their academic performance and other norms, which are regularly, reviewed by a District Level Committee every three years and a State Level Committee every six years.

Recent changes in the Scheme :

All schools selected by the State Level Committee have to register online with full details of their school including infrastructure, academic record and student details. The students selected under the scheme also have to be registered by the District Officer. The budget releases under the scheme is done online. Monitoring of the academic performance of the students is also conducted online.
