What is NLU Delhi Research Endeavour Grant?
Research Endeavour Grant (N-REG) 2024-25 is sponsored by National Law University Delhi. Applicants must necessarily have a Master’s degree. Applications must be submitted through the online application form. NLU Delhi has instituted a research grant programme that seeks to provide two annual research grants of Rs. 5 lakhs per annum each to academics and researchers based in any Indian institution/ organisation. Last Date of Scholarship is 30th June 2024.

Program Objective of Research Endeavour Grant
** This research grant programme aims to develop high quality research that delivers a deeper understanding of law/ legal institutions/ legal cultures/ legal policy on their own terms as well as through interaction with other fields.
** The University’s endeavour is to promote innovative research projects that contribute to the advancement of legal scholarship as well as interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary scholarship that has significant bearing on law/ legal institutions/ legal cultures/ legal policy.
** The proposals may focus on studying and understanding complex challenges through purely legal scholarship or by leveraging interdisciplinary/ multidisciplinary approaches.
Value & Duration of Research Grants
** Two annual research grants of Rs. 5 lakh each.
** The duration of each grant will be for one year only and there can be no extension (even no-cost extensions will not be permitted). Successful applicants must necessarily complete the work under the grant within one year.
Eligibility of Research Endeavour Grant
** Indian citizens currently working in any Indian higher educational institution in academic/ research roles are eligible to apply.
** Applicants must necessarily have a Master’s degree.
** At least three years of demonstrable work experience in an academic/ research role. Experience gained outside India in this regard will be considered relevant under this requirement.
** The proposal must be a standalone project and cannot be part of a larger project.
** Successful applicants should be able to provide an institutional bank account into which the research grant will be received. The institutional bank account must belong to the institution at which the applicant is currently employed.
** Indian citizens who are employed abroad in any form/ through any employment structure but are currently in Indian higher educational institutions on research fellowships/ grants/ visiting academic arrangements etc. are not eligible to apply.
Application Process of Research Endeavour Grant
i. Applications will be accepted only through the online form developed for this purpose.
ii. The link to the online form is provided at the end of this call for research proposals.

iv. Applicants will be required to submit the following documents as part of the online application form. If any of these documents, the application will be considered incomplete and not eligible for consideration:
** Research proposal of no more than 2500 words comprising a statement of research objectives and significance of the research, research methodology, and research questions with brief explanations.
** Progress milestones document of no more than 1500 words that provides details on the quarterly targets towards completion of the research proposed within one year.
** Budget outline with no more two-levels of subheads under each head of expenditure. Please note that the total expenses on human resources cannot exceed 70%. Also, foreign travel and expenses during such travel are not eligible costs under this grant.
** A document that comprises a list of publications and research outcomes.
** CV of the applicant.
** A letter on the institutional letterhead signed by the employer stating that
(i) the employer has considered the research proposal and has authorised the application;
(ii) the research grant can be received into the institution’s bank account and that it can be disbursed according to the norms of the research grant letter;
(iii) the institution will submit a utilisation certificate to NLU Delhi on completion of the work under the grant or at the end of one year from the award of the grant, whichever is earlier;
iv) the institution undertakes to refund any remaining amount under the grant due to non-utilisation for any reason whatsoever.

Selection Procedure of Research Endeavour Grant
** After ensuring that eligibility conditions are met and that necessary documents have been submitted, a Research Grants Selection Committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor shall assess the applications and shortlist applicants for an interaction and detailed discussion.
** Based on the research proposal and the interaction with the applicants, the Research Grants Selection will recommend two successful applicants.
** National Law University Delhi reserves the right to seek more information/ documents during the selection process.
** The University will endeavour to complete the selection process by 14th August 2024.
