IITs Research Fellowship Programme:
Under the Research Fellowship Programme, ARCI has signed MoUs with Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay, Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad and Indian Institute of Technology-Madras to institute a few ARCI Fellowships for Ph.D. research scholars. The selection process of such fellows is as per respective IIT admission norms.
Each selected ARCI fellow will have atleast one IIT Faculty Member as a guide and an ARCI Scientist as a Research Co-ordinator. The broad thesis of Ph.D. will be relevant to ARCI’s R&D programmes and each selected ARCI fellow will be paid an attractive monthly stipend for a maximum period of 4 years or till submission of Ph.D. thesis, whichever is earlier.
Senior/Junior ARCI Fellows:
Every year, through an open advertisement, ARCI engages talented candidates as fellows to contribute to its various time-bound sponsored projects as well as its major in-house technology development programmes. Selected candidates with M.E./ M.Tech./M.S. degrees are awarded Senior ARCI Fellowship (SAF) and those with B.E./ B.Tech./ M.Sc. are awarded Junior ARCI Fellowship (JAF) respectively. The SAFs are paid an attractive stipend of Rs. 25,000/- p.m. and JAFs are paid Rs. 20,000/- (without NET/GATE) and Rs. 22,000/- p.m. (with NET/ GATE).
Initially, the selected fellows are engaged for a three-year term that is renewed annually, subject to satisfactory performance. Based on their performance, during the 1st year of their tenure, the selected fellows are also encouraged to register for a Ph.D. Programme (under external registration category) with those IITs and academic institutions who have recognized ARCI as an external research centre for carrying out Ph.D. work.
However, admission of fellows to the Ph.D. programme is subject to requirements prescribed by the academic institutions. The ARCI fellows selected for Ph.D. programme (under external registration category) are permitted to attend one semester of course work at the academic institute up to a maximum period of 6 months during which they are also paid full monthly stipend. Such ARCI fellows are guaranteed a total fellowship tenure up to 5 years or until completion of Ph.D. thesis, whichever is earlier.
Presently ARCI is recognized as an external research centre for carrying out Ph.D. work by Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, National Institute of Technology, Warangal, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad, Osmania University, Hyderabad, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, Anna University, Chennai.
