Academic Scholarship:

The Foundation supports candidates enrolled for B. Sc. Nautical Science, B.E. Marine Engineering, Graduate Marine Engineering (GME), General Purpose (GP) Rating courses on a need-cum-merit basis. Selected candidates are assisted in getting admission to well known maritime institutes. Short – term input sessions are organized during academic training tenure to foster professional development of the selected candidates. Going ahead, the Foundation will assist candidates in getting employment with identified shipping companies and / or their affiliates.

Eligibility Criteria :

** Interested candidates should satisfy the academic and medical criteria for all above mentioned merchant navy courses so defined by the Directorate General of Shipping from time to time.
** Candidate should have a strong academic record
** Annual income of candidate’s family from all source should be less than Rs. 1,50,000/- The income should be supported by authentic documents issued by competent authority and an affidavit.

** Selected candidates will be supported through academic scholarships.
** All the candidates completing academic training successfully will be assisted in recruitment with identified shipping companies and / or their affiliates.

Application and Selection process:

Candidates can download application forms from Foundation’s website: www.prempunita.org. Duly filled application forms can be sent by post on the address: Prem Punita Foundation, 3rd Floor, ‘B’ Wing, Mittal Towers, Nariman Point, Mumbai 400 021. Applications can also be scanned and e-mailed at: contact@prempunita.org.

Duly filled application forms should be sent within 15 days from the date of announcements of 12th Std. results through either of the above mentioned methods.

The Foundation will scan the applications and select eligible and deserving candidates. Foundation representatives will communicate with selected candidates (and their family members) regarding further procedures.

Terms and Conditions:

** The Scholarship is applicable for B.Sc. Nautical Science, B.E. Marine Engineering, Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) and General Purpose (G.P) Rating courses only.

** Prem Punita Foundation reserves rights for selection of eligible candidates and confirming upon amount of scholarship based on candidates’ financial and academic background. The foundation will try to assist candidate/s for recruitment with identified company/ companies and its/their affiliates.

** Only academic expenses regarding the courses would be covered under the scholarship scheme. Candidates would be required to pay for their personal and travel expenses.

** Only those candidates with an annual family income of Rs. 1,50,000/- from all sources along with legal documents supporting the income details will be eligible for the project.

** The scholarship will be suspended, if the candidate is not promoted to the next academic year throughout the course tenure. Candidate’s academic performance must be satisfactory during the entire duration of the course. The performance is to be certified by the Head of College/Institute.

** Candidate should inform the Foundation if he holds any other scholarship /stipend from any other source other than Prem Punita Foundation’s scholarship. Foundation’s decision in terms of benefits under scholarship scheme would be final in such cases.

** Selected candidates and their parents/guardians will be required to sign an agreement / MOU with the Foundation and agree to its terms and conditions.

** In case, the candidate discontinues or is caused to discontinue the course, he will have to refund the scholarship amount for the duration during which he/she is in receipt of the scholarship. There will be no obligation on the part of the Foundation to assist in seeking employment/vocational/summer training to any of the candidates if they become ineligible for completion of the said course or for an employment due to any reason, whatsoever.

** Selected candidates would not be allowed to participate or be caused to participate in the process of campus recruitment and should confirm that he would not approach or be approachable to any company / organization other than identified by the Foundation.The selected candidate understands and agrees that he would be eligible to continue receiving the scholarship provided:

** He maintains a good academic record during the entire course.

** He is evaluated well in his behavior and attitude by the Training Institute.

** He does not indulge in any antisocial or unethical activities or any act involving moral turpitude.

** He has a clean disciplinary record with the training institute.

11. The Foundation would periodically (at the beginning of each semester) release scholarship amount on a pro-rata basis with respect to semester academic fees.

12. Selected candidate should undertake to serve for a period of at least 4 years of active and uninterrupted service with the Company identified by the Foundation after course completion and passing his first “Certificate of Competency” examination.

General Instructions :

** Duly filled application forms should be sent within 15 days from the date of announcements of 12th Std. results. Applications received afterwards will not be considered. Incomplete application forms will be rejected. Court of jurisdiction for any dispute will be at Mumbai. Only short listed candidates will be informed about further selection procedures.

** Applicant will have to appear at their cost, for pre–admission tests and secure admission in the College / University to stand eligible for the scholarship project.
