Objective:
To provide qualitative education (including vocational training) through coaching to Muslims & Dalit girls by providing them scholarships.
Project Vidyagyan provides impetus to the education of girls of SC and Muslim communities. BETI Foundation with the support from Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and Shiv Subramaniam Nadar Educational and Charitable Trust started the Vidyagyan Scholarship Program for girl students of SC and Muslim communities in Dewa Block of Barabanki district in U.P in July 2007. The objective was to encourage girls of Muslim and Scheduled caste communities to continue their studies till class 10th. A scholarship of Rs. 500/- per month is given to the girls of these communities for them to continue their studies. Students who are good in studies but have to drop out from school due to their poor financial and social conditions are benefitted by this project. Till date total 234 girls have benefited from these scholarships.
Bank accounts by their names have been opened in banks viz. Aryavart Gramin Bank, Deva, Aryavart Gramin Bank, Mittai, Aryavart Gramin Bank, Peed, Bank of Baroda, Deva, Union Bank of India, Deva & State Bank of India, Dewa.
12 coaching centres were established as per the convenience of these students where they have been taught for one and a half hours for 5 days a week. These coaching centres of which 6 have currently closed down with the passing out of 72 Batch I girls are monitored by the staff of the BETI Foundation at stipulated intervals.
Under this program 5 Libraries have also been established. These libraries are also being used by the community and other students. Computer training is provided to the selected girls at two Computer centres at Vidya Institute of Information Technology, Dewa & National Computer Centre, Mittai.

The BETI Foundation was established in March 2000 as a part of Project on Girls’ Education being coordinated by the Academy for Educational Development, AED Washington, with financial support from the Global WID-TECH (Women In Development Technology) Funds of USAID.
