Objective
The objective is to award scholarships to meritorious students of economically weaker sections to arrest their drop out at class VIII and encourage them to continue the study at secondary stage.
Eligibility
** Students whose parental income from all sources is not more than Rs. 1,50,000/- per annum are eligible to avail the scholarships.
** The students shall have minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in Class VII examination (Relaxable by 5% for SC/ST)
Note :
Students of NVS, KVS, Sainik schools and private schools are not entitled for the scholarships.
How to Apply?
The scheme is implemented through National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Just follow the below steps to apply for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme 2019-20.
Steps :
Step 1 : Go to the official website of National Scholarship Portal through the URL provided above.
Step 2 : Then Select Central Schemes tab and Click on Department of School Education & Literacy link in the drop down list.
Step 3 : After that Click Apply link in the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship.
Step 4 : It will redirect to the Login Page. Enter your Application Id, Password and Captcha for Login.
Step 5 : After Login to your account select the Scholarship scheme and fill the required details to apply for the scholarship.
Step 6 : If you are a New User then Click on the Register link in the Login Page.
Step 7 : Enter all required details for registration to get your user id and password.
Step 8 : After complete your application you will get a confirmation message to your registered email id & mobile number.
Scholarship Amount
One lakh scholarships @ Rs.6000/- per annum (Rs.500/- per month) are awarded to selected students of class IX every year and their continuation/renewal in classes X to XII for study in State Government, Government-aided and Local body schools under the scheme.
Selection Process
** The selection of students for award of scholarships under the scheme is made through an examination conducted by the State Governments.
** Each State/UT conducts its own test for selection of students for the award of the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship. The State Level Examination consists of the following two tests.
(i) Mental Ability Test (MAT)
(ii) Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
** The students must pass both the tests i.e. MAT and SAT with at least 40% marks in each. For the reserved category, this cut off will be 32% marks.
Guidelines
** Scholarships are disbursed by the State Bank of India directly by electronic transfer into the accounts of students through Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
** For continuing the scholarship in class X and XII, the awardees should get clear promotion from class IX to class X and from class XI to class XII in the first attempt with 55% marks (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST).
** Students of Class IX and X need to apply under Pre-Matric scholarship category whereas students of class XI and XII need to apply under Post-Matric scholarship category.
** For pre-matric (IX and X), only two application can be submitted through one mobile. For post-matric (XI and XII), only one application can be submitted through one mobile.
** The State Nodal officers are requested to submit the data/list of beneficiaries on NSP, received form District Education Officer, after approving it, within a week after verification process is over.

I also got selected in NMMS 2015 exam but I got only Rs.6000 in 1st PUC. What I have to do to get the scholarship? Please any one tell me.
I am a Teacher of Rajarmath R.K.A. High School, Nadia, West Bengal, one of my Student Sabir Molla was selected for NMMSS in 2015. But he has not yet received any scholarship. Please help me to get the Scholarship. His father name was found incorrect in Title. I rectified it later his title will be Molla instead of Mondal. Please help me. He is very poor and meritorious student.
