Scholarships:
The Management and the Governments, both State and the Central, have come forward to help students in their study in various forms. Eligibility conditions are announced as and when needed through notices to the students. Forms will be issued to students at the College Office in time. These scholarships and concessions should be applied for only after the students pay the first semester fees in full and enroll in the college. Scholarship and fee concession holders must secure 75 % of the attendance, failing which they run the risk of losing these scholarships and concessions.
Merit Scholarships:
Scholarships for children of Primary and Secondary School teachers is given to 70 students of Tamil Nadu selected on merit cum means basis. Student who have secured 60% marks in the qualifying examination and whose parents annual income do not exceed Rs. 24000/- are eligible to apply. For those whose parent’s annual income not exceeding Rs. 24,000/- per annum, a merit certificate with a national prize of Rs. 100/- is given.
Adhi Dhravida Scholarship:
Adhi Dhravida Scholarship for the Hindu Scheduled Caste / Tribe students. Income limit is Rs.100000/- per annum.
First Generation Graduates:
Scholarships of first generation graduates; This Scholarship is given to students who come from families where there are no graduates and their parental income does not exceed Rs. 25,000/- per annum. This is given to students who are studying U.G course and continue their studies till the completion of the course. If they break their studies they should refund the whole amount they received to the Government.
Physically Handicapped and the Blind:
Govt. of India Scholarships for the Physically Handicapped and the Blind. Income limit is Rs. 20920/- per annum.
Nagammayar fee concession:
This fee concession is awarded to all girl students belonging to copies of mark sheet and first page of the S.S.L.C should be backward classes and girls of Nair community whose parent’s annual income does not exceed 24000/-. They should continue their studies till the completion of the course lest they should refund the concession amount to the Govt. Income certificate obtained from the Tahsildar should be submitted every year to the college.
Ex. Serviceman:
Scholarship to children of freedom fighters and political suffers who have undergone more than six months imprisonment. Dependants of Ex. Serviceman can apply through the D.S.S.A Board. The incentives for Tamil Medium degree Students will be Rs. 400/- as per the Government rules.
State Government Scholarships:
** Department of Harijan Welfare awards / scholarships to scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe students including converts whose parent’s annual income does not exceed Rs. 100000/- These students should not avail of Govt. of India Post Merit Scholarships.
** State Govt. scholarships for Physically handicapped and the blind.
** Department of Backward Class awards scholarships to all B.C and M.B.C students including Hindu Nadars, Christian Nadars and Ezhavar. Income Limits is Rs. 25000/- per annum. Students of M.B.C have no income limit.
** Fee concession is available for the wards of farmers having identity card. Eligible students should get the proper forms from the college office. Filled in the application forms accompanied by attested submitted before the 25th of July. The Certificate of Income and Community Certificate should be signed by the Tahsilder only. The Community Certificate should agree with the community mentioned in the S.S.L.C Book. Incomplete application forms will be rejected.
For Children:
Church workers children scholarship.
Non-teaching staffs children scholarship:
These two scholarships are given to the children of church. The scholarships are determined on the basis of the available funds and the number of beneficiaries.
Student Aid Fund:
The student aid fund is built up by the student aid fee of Rs.2/- collected from each student. This will be available in the form of cash for poor deserving students to meet examination fee, a small part of tuition fee, cost of specific books essential for their study, clothing or medical expenses. Meritorious but poor students who wish to avail of the is fund, can apply to the principal through their HOD, Based on the recommendations of the HOD and the advice of he advisory body consisting of students and staff representative the principal will administer the fund in addition to the financial status and academic performance, the conduct and character of the beneficiary will also be an important determining factor in the selection of student to be paid from the above fund. The interest of the endowment(Rs.1000/-)out of the endowment amount of Rs.4000/-instituted by prof.A.J.Harris is available for the purpose of extending aid for the deserving student.
Free Mid-Day Meals:
With the financial assistance contributed monthly by the staff and donations from the students and well wishers, the college provides free mid-day meal on working days to a limited number of really needy students. There is a large numbers in the category but paucity of funds limits the number of students served. any amount of help will be welcome from any source to meet this peculiar need of the unfortunates of this area. The interest of the endowment name Rev.Harris memorial endowment(Rs.1000/-)miss.Issacs endowment (Rs.1000/-)and the endowment(Rs.7,000/-)instituted by the college student councial of 1978-79 are also available fir the purpose of giving mid-day meal to poor students.
