DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme (DGFS-M.Tech.):
The DAE Graduate Fellowship Schemes was introduced in the year 2002, with an aim to further strengthen research- education linkage in areas of interest to DAE programmes. This scheme provides excellent career opportunity for pursuing prestigious programmes of the Department to students qualifying for admission to the M.Tech. Course in Indian Institute of Technology and select NIITs.
Students pursuing specified specializations (such as Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering & Technology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering. Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Control & Power Engineering, Applied Optics, Lasers & Optoelectronics etc) could qualify for admission to the Scheme.
Highlights Of The Scheme:
1.Selection by interview at Mumbai (June/July) with prerequisite minimum qualifications as: Selected for M.Tech. at IITs with BE/BTech/BSc (Engg) in specified branches (aggregate marks not less than 60%) & a valid GATE score as specified by IlTs. Candidates will be paid to and fro sleeper class fares between their residence and Mumbai.
2.Candidate should be less than 26 years of age as on September 1, of that year& found medically fit by BARC Hospital. Relaxation in age by 5 years for SC/ST and by 3 years for OBC candidates is admissible.
3.A monthly stipend of Rs. 20,000/- with other allowances including tuition fees will be paid during the 2-year period of the M.Tech. Course.
4.Project Guides from the DAE and IIT will decide Elective/Audit courses and project work for the M.Tech. candidates under this scheme.
5.On joining this scheme, the selected candidate will have to sign an agreement and a bond to serve in a unit of DAE for a minimum period of three years. In case of non-compliance, the candidate will have to refund the stipend, all allowances and the tuition fee paid by DAE.
6.On successful completion of the M.Tech. course, the candidate will join a 4-month Orientation Course for Engineering Post-Graduates (OCEP) conducted at the BARC Training School. The candidate will be absorbed as Scientific Officer ‘C’ in a DAE Unit in the scale of Rs. 15,600/- – 39,100/- with Grand Pay of Rs. 5400/- and up to 4 advance increments depending upon his performance in M.Tech. & OCEP and the approval by competent authority. Total emoluments inclusive of 4 advance increments and all allowances (DA, CCA & HRA) will be around Rs 65,570/- p.m. if posted in an ‘A’ class City. Further details of the Scheme and selection procedure will be announced by the IlTs concerned.
7.Candidates are advised to visit HBNI for Selection Process of the one Year Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates & Science Post-graduates (OCES) at BARC, CAT, NFC-HWB & NPCIL. Candidates who have applied and are selected for interview both for OCES & DAE-Institute M.Tech. Scheme will be interviewed only once for their choice of scheme. Interviews for both the schemes will be held simultaneously at the same venue
