PhD :
Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs. 25,000/- enhanced to Rs. 28,000/- after registration and an annual contingency grant of Rs. 32000/-
Int.M.Sc.-PhD:
Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs. 16,000/- for the first year and an annual contingency grant of Rs. 20,000/-. At the end of the first year, upon satisfactory performance, the fellowship is enhanced to Rs. 25,000/- per month ((further raised to Rs. 28,000/- after registration for PhD) and contingency grant is enhanced to Rs. 32000/- per annum.
M.Sc. Wildlife Biology and Conservation:
Students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs. 12000/- p.m.
Eligibility:
Biology :
PhD programme: Masters in Basic Science or Bachelors in Applied Science. These include M.Sc. (Ag), B.Tech, B.E., B.V.Sc. B. Pharma (4 yrs course), MBBS., BDS. M. Pharma. Students with training in Physics or Chemistry are encouraged to apply to the programmes.
Integrated Ph.D/M.Sc. by Research Programme: Bachelors in any Basic Science.
Admission Procedure :
Candidates who attempt the GATE Exam in Ecology and Evolution may be considered for the NCBS PhD program, without having to appear for the JGEEBILS Exam. For candidates who have attempted both JGEEBILS and the GATE Exam, the better of their two performances will be considered.
Based on this performance, shortlisted candidates will be invited to submit a full application. A subset of these will be invited for on-campus interviews in May, along with the JGEEBILS candidates.
Final admission to the PhD program will be based on the Exam score, the full application including SoP and letters of recommendation, and interview performance. The detailed procedure for GATE-based applications will be announced in February. The Last Date for applications is two weeks after the GATE results are announced.
