Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship :
1. Which are the minority communities eligible for this scholarship?:
Minority communities notified under section 2(c) of NCM Act, 1922 are eligible for this scholarship scheme. They are:- Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis (Zoroastrians).

2. Who can apply for merit-cum means scholarship?:
Students belonging to minority communities can apply for this scheme for studies in India only to the State/UT to which they belong through this institute/college.
3. What are the eligibility criteria?:
Ans; The annual income of the student/parent or guardian of student should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh from all sources and the student also should have secured at least 50% marks in his/her last examination
4. What are the courses for which scholarship is provided for?:
Financial assistance is provided for pursuing technical and professional courses at under-graduate and post-graduate levels in a institute recognized by an appropriate authority.
5. What are the technical and professional courses covered by the scheme?:

6. How is the scheme implemented?:
The scheme is implemented through the State Government/UT administration who receive 100% central assistance from the Government of India.
7. What is the rate of scholarship?:
Students studying in other recognized institutes are entitled for reimbursement of a maximum course fee of Rs.20,000/- per annum. Students, studying in listed institutions (Reputed institutions shorted listed all over India, a total of 70 such institutions are there country-wide) are eligible for full reimbursement of course fee charged by these institutions. 8. What is the rate of maintenance allowance?:
Maintenance allowance is given @ Rs.5,000/- and 10,000 for 10 months in a yea to day scholars and hostlers respectively.
9. How does a student come to know, whether he has been awarded scholarship or not?
The respective State/UTs Government should be approached for any specific information in this regard. Once scholarships are sanctioned, the States/UTs are required to plan the details of the selected students in the website of State Government/department concerned.
10. How are the scholarship distributed among the different minority communities and States/UTs?:
State-wise distribution of scholarship among the students belonging to the five minority communities is given at booklet of the merit-cum means scholarship scheme. This has been done in proportion to the population of minorities of the States/UTs concerned. For details visit the website of the Ministry
11. Is there any earmarking for girl students?:
30% scholarship has been earmarked for girls of each minority community in a state.
12. What happens, if the earmarked number of scholarships for girls are not utilized?:
In the meant 30% scholarships earmarked for girls of each minority community in a State/UTs is not fully utilized, it would be transferred to male students of that community in the State/UT concerned.
13. When do I apply for fresh and renewed scholarship?:
Ans. Advertisement would be published by the State Government/UT Administration every year inviting applications, giving the last date for receiving application forms, and the offices where the application forms are to be submitted. This advertisement should normally come out in the month of April every year. However, students are advised to keep touch of advertisement in the following months too in case it is issued after April.
14. How do a student apply for merit-cum means scholarship?:

15. How do I know my status of application, sanction/release of scholarships?:
The States/UTs are required to the detailed list of plan and scholarships sanctioned in the website of the department dealing with minority welfare/this scholarship scheme in the States/UTs.
16. How do I furnish income certificate?:
Income certificate could be submitted in any of the following manner:-
** An income declaration by self-employed parents/guardians, stating income from all sources by way of an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper.
** Employed parents/guardians are required to obtain income certificate from their employer and for any additional income from other sources, they would furnish declaration by way of an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper.
** The income certificates issued by a duly authorized officer in State/UTs may also be acceptable of the affidavit.
17. How do I furnish certificate that I belong to minority community?:
A Self declaration by the student an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper that he/she belongs to a particular minority community notified under section 2(c) of NCM Act, 1922 is required to be submitted alongwith the affidavit.
18. How many scholarships can a family avail ?:
Not more than two children in a family can avail scholarship under this scheme.
