Guidelines for preparation of merit list of students under “Meit cum means based scholarship scheme :
A. Steps to be followed for preparing the merit list for award of Merit-cum-means based scholarship to the students belonging to minority communities:-
(i) The ratio between under-graduate and post-graduate courses may be determined by the number of eligible applications received by the State/UT concerned in each category but the ratio for post-graduate should not exceed 25% of the total allocation for the State/UT. In case of non-availability of sufficient numbers of eligible students in any of these categories, it may be utilized by either of the categories according to the community-wise sub-allocation for that State/UT.
(ii) The second step would be to set aside 30% for girl students for under-graduate and post-graduate courses.
(iii) The next step should be to prepare a merit list of eligible students studying in the institutions listed in the scheme and select them first.
(iv) A combined merit list for both male and female students will be prepared for 70% of the scholarships, after excluding the numbers set apart as in (iii) above for institutions listed in the scheme.
(v) A merit list of female students, who have not been selected in the combined merit list, will be prepared for filling up 30% of the allocation.
B. General principles to be observed while preparing the merit list:-
(i) Merit list should be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in class XII for under-graduate courses and in the case of post-graduate courses, marks obtained in the under-graduate course.
(ii) In case of a tie in marks, the student with lower annual income should be given preference for award of scholarship.
