Scholars Abroad Program:
AAA is registered as a charitable organization founded in the 1968, for the purpose of raising funds to provide grants to highly qualified students who have been accepted for advanced studies in the US at a noted university but who have some financial need. Most are able to get assistance from their chosen university for tuition and books and some even have jobs waiting for them, however, they need to get there and manage a few days in the US before all their resources fall into place there. This grant is to provide that support to these bright high achievers.
Award winners are selected in a rigorous round of judging first based on their written applications and then in person interviews. The process weighs the value of their chosen degree work to India, the students plans to return and use of the degree, the reputation of the University in the chosen area of study and, of course their academic achievements and financial need. Each year, grant money is fund raised by the members of the AAA and awarded to qualified candidates. Past Sponsors include the JW Marriott Hotel, Mr. Nadir Godrej, and Hexaware Technologies, The Vinod & Saryu Doshi Foundation, Hutch to name a few.
Currently, the amount of the grant is INR 1,00,000 (one lac) per student (and can be changed according to the amount fundraised). It is a grant and is therefore repayable when the student completes their studies and are financially stable enough to return it.
