List of Candidates Sanctioned for National Overseas Scholarship (Fresh) for the Year 2016-17

In the circumstances explained above, Government is pleased to accord approval and directs the Director of Minorities, Bangalore, to draw and disburse the Scholarship Amount to the following 161 fresh first list candidates of Minorities for the year 2016-17 who are selected by the Selection Committee as listed below:

The selection committee conducted an interview/counselling for the applied candidates on 29-08-2016 and 30.08.2016 under the chairmanship of the Selection committee chairman and the Secretary to Government, Minority welfare, Haj & Wakf Department, in the presence of other committee members and selected 161 eligible candidates to sanction scholarship from the Minority communities candidates based on

1) the Merit [Marks] of the candidate in his/her Degrees,
2) occupation and Annual Income of the parents of the respective candidates
3) Representation of candidates from different districts of the state (Regional Representation),
4) opportunity to Female candidates and
5) opportunity to candidates who opted and choosen special subjects by the candidates.

Terms & Conditions :
The Director, Directorate of Minorities while disbursing the Scholarships shall follow the conditions as detailed below
1) The amount may be released to the students with the conditions that requisite documents is furnished by the selected candidates.
2) The requisite documents with regard to the admission of students for the course in the University Overseas may be obtained,

3) In case of the students discontinue the studies, the amount of scholarship sanctioned to be returned to the Director, Directorate of Minorities, Bangalore, through DD. An affidavit to that effect has to be obtained from the students.

4) The students who fail to get admission in the universities overseas are nor entitled for the scholarship.
5) The expenditure incurred for publicity, and scholarship may be furnished to the Government within the stipulated period.

6) The maximum amount of scholarship of only Rs.20.00 Lakh admissible for two years shall be released even though the course is for a period of three years. No amount of scholarship will be released for the third year and there-on.

7) A progress report for having achieved Physical and Financial targets for having implementing the scheme may be furnished.
8) After utilization of grants, utilisation certificate shall be furnished in accordance with rules.

National Overseas Scholarship for Minorities :
The State Government through the Directorate of Minorities have introduced a scheme for providing financial assistance to Minority students of Karnataka State for pursuing higher studies aboard in Master Degree, Ph.D and Post Doctoral Courses etc., in prestigious Foreign Universities. Minority students who opt to pursue higher studies Abroad in prestigious foreign Universities after their degree course are provided with National Overseas Scholarship by Government of Karnataka at the rate of Rs. 20.00 lakhs for 2 years course only.
